Deceptive, Unprofessional, and Misogynistic Sales Practices On July 26, 2025, I leased a 2025 Kia Sorento PHEV from McGrath Kia of Highland Park. Their own Easy Buy portal listed the exact same vehicle (same VIN) for $46,665, with my trade-in valued at $3,346, and an estimated monthly lease of $653–$683. What I actually signed was a lease with a gross capitalized cost of $62,766.09, only $1,000 trade-in credit, and $2,500 in add-on products (maintenance + wear & tear) I was told were “covered by rebates.” My monthly payment is $879.71 — nearly $200 more than the dealer’s own advertised estimate. When I questioned the discrepancy, the general manager dismissed it as a “misunderstanding.” The process itself was just as bad: the finance manager slipped add-ons into my contract without consent, the staff ignored my trade-in paperwork, and no one explained the vehicle’s features or the lease details. As a woman shopping alone, I was repeatedly talked down to and forced to advocate for basic transparency and respect. If you care about fair pricing, honest communication, or being treated with respect, avoid McGrath Kia of Highland Park. They run on deception and outdated assumptions, not customer service.

I’ve purchased a number of car from many different dealerships but this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. I should have paid closer attention to the online reviews. The sales person was not very knowledgeable on the vehicle I was there to see, He wasn’t welcoming upon my arrival, and the sales manager was no better when I got to that point of in the process. Ended up walking out over $400. Sales manager argued with me over a $400 difference just drop the online price $400 the very next day after I walked out. I went down the street to another dealer and purchased a car with a great price and experience that same day. Avoid this place

Dishonest communication.
Dishonest communication. Called about their used inventory and was coming from a far drive. Wanted to understand what fees they charge so I can see if any of their used cars fit in my budget. I was told from the rep on the phone that there are no additional fees outside of tax title/registration and doc fees. So I find a vehicle that could fit in my budget, went in for a test drive. Now, it was a decent experience when I arrived, however, I learned that I only spoke to their internet rep and not a floor rep. I’m not even sure if their internet reps are on site. But, the floor rep was great. Went for the test drive and liked the car and said I was interested in purchasing. Was told their McGrath warranty was included in the price (I assumed they meant the advertised price), so great ok that’s nice. NO! The rep brought out the offer sheet with thousands of dollars of added fees and dealer processing charges. Was told what the internet rep told me before I came in and they said they can’t control what they tell me…. Needless to say, I felt like my time was wasted and will not be back. Sales rep was nice, sales manager was horrible. Felt like a stereotypical used car sales manager.
