At the Pebble Beach Concours earlier in August, Infiniti debuted the QX Monograph, a reliable indicator of what the next generation of the brand’s full-size three-row SUV will look like in production form. With the QX80’s replacement on the horizon, now is likely a good opportunity for buyers to snag a good deal on what may be the final model year of the current-gen SUV.
What’s New?
For 2024, Infiniti is offering a Dark Chrome Appearance Package on the top-tier Sensory trim level. This package darkens the shiny bits on the front fascia, grille surround, fender vents and hatch. It also includes black mirror housings.
Full Safety Suite Standard
All 2024 QX80s come well equipped to help the driver avoid collisions. The lengthy roster of standard safety gear includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitors, reverse automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera system.
The Last of the V-8 Interceptors
Now that the Toyota Sequoia has switched to a twin-turbo hybrid V-6 powertrain, the QX80 and its Nissan Armada platform mate are the only Japanese SUVs in this class left with V-8s. The Infiniti’s 5.6-liter V-8 makes 400 horsepower and 413 pounds-feet of torque, and it’s mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all trim levels, with four-wheel drive available.
The EPA rates the rear-drive QX80 at 14/20/16 mpg city/highway/combined. Subtract 1 mpg from each column for four-wheel-drive versions.
