Very reliable gas guzzler

by Kendall from Miami, fl | July 31, 2020

This car is awesome. Wait until you go to the gas station 2 times a week. If you cant afford Premium gas do not buy. It great on the highway and on handling. Tires wear out constantly as do the breaks. It's a fun extremely costly car for what it is.

2017 INFINITI Q50 Overview

New/Notable

The 2017 INFINITI Q50 is a compact luxury sedan that competes with Lexus IS, BMW 3 Series, and Mercedes C-Class. This year, it remains largely unchanged. The fuel efficient Q50 Hybrid will be covered in a separate overview.

Three versions of the Q50 are available: the 2.0t, 3.0t and Red Sport 400. Both the 2.0t and 3.0t versions have three trims available: the base trim, Premium, and Sport.

The Q50 remains unchanged from the outside. The compact sedan mixes luxury styling with sporty, warped, organic forms. The front mesh grille has a stretched hour-glass shape, which is accentuated by aggressive LED headlights. The rear pillar of the Q50 makes an S-curve down through the rear passenger door. At the rear, chrome accents echo the shape of the front grille. The Sport and Red Sport 400 trims come with a sportier, front underbody spoiler. Standard features include LED headlights, LED front fog lights, power/heated side mirrors, a dual-pipe exhaust system, and 17-inch allow wheels. Available features include a rear spoiler, and larger 19-inch alloy wheels.

Under the hood, the Q50 2.0t is powered by a base 208-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission and rear- (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The 3.0t version have a 300-hp, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine. The Red Sport 400 has the same engine as the 3.0t, but it is tuned to produce 400-hp.

Fuel efficiency for the 2.0t trims is an EPA-estimated 23/31 mpg city/highway (22/28 mpg with AWD). For the 3.0t Premium, the rating lowers to 19/29 mpg (19/28 mpg with AWD). The Q50 3.0t Sport also has a 19/29 mpg rating, but it lowers to 18/26 mpg with AWD. Lastly, the Red Sport 400 has a slightly higher 20/27 mpg rating (19/26 mpg with AWD).

Inside, the Q50 has a premium leatherette interior with a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. The center stack features a standard audio system that includes dual displays, voice command recognition, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, a satellite radio, and dual USB ports. It can be upgraded with an integrated navigation system and a Bose premium audio system. Standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, remote keyless entry, push-button start, and power front seats. Available features include leather upholstery, a power moonroof, remote engine start, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, paddle shifters, heated front seats, and a memory seat.

The Q50 has a few updated safety features as well. The available Direct Adaptive Steering system allows the driver to select heavy, standard, and light steering modes for different road conditions. The Dynamic Digital Suspension system is available for a smoother ride with reduced vibration. The available Driver Assistance Package now includes autonomous emergency braking, a blindspot monitoring system, pre-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian detection, and surround view monitor. A backup camera and a tire pressure monitoring system come standard.
