Rosen Hyundai of Kenosha

We made the drive from Milwaukee to Kenosha after calling first to make sure the prices listed on the internet for two separate but similar 2024 Santa Fe's were legitimate. The prices were around $8,000 less than the closest other matches online. We also confirmed that both vehicles had AWD and were Certified, used. One had 23 miles on it and the other had 29. We were greeted enthusiastically right away when we walked through the door. David was our salesman and he was friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the vehicle and all its new technology. We decided to start talking numbers and that's when everything started to fall apart. The quote they gave us showed an additional $2500 for the certification, approximately $2000 for Clear Coating, $200 for door guards and $995 for VIN Etching! We have purchased several certified used vehicles in the past and NEVER was there a charge for the cost of certifying the vehicle. Perhaps that cost was included in the advertised price, which is fine if that's what a dealer wants to do. But to advertise one price as a certified vehicle and then add the cost of certifying on top of that seems like a "bait and switch" tactic. They agreed to take off the Clear Coating charge but we received absolutely no paperwork to show this has in fact already been done. We were told we would get copies of everything we were signing but we have yet to get a copy of the Certification Report. And $995 for VIN Etching is ridiculous. You can buy a VIN Etching kit online for $20. Plus the VIN is not etched on anything at all. Rather, there is a sticker with the VIN on all four doors and the tailgate. A sticker could be removed. Typically the VIN Etching is done on the glass windows, partly as a deterrent to would-be thieves. Thieves have no idea there are stickers on the doors so no deterrent there. The sales manager never smiled and grunted a few words to us during the paperwork signing process. We really like the vehicle so far and again, David, our salesman was really (and continues to be after the sale) helpful. The dealership itself, though, is deceptive so I would never recommend buying from them. In fact, I'm considering filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Shame on me for not heeding the fact that they are not a BBB accredited business and ignoring the C- rating that the BBB gives them.

I had been looking for that particular vehicle for quite some time. When I first saw the ad for this one on August 12th. I saved it. Eventually I decided to send an inquiry because I really wanted to at least test drive it. Once I did test drive it. I decided that I really wanted it. I was disappointed that my initial offer, and value of my trade in were not quite what I had in mind, but their offer was fair to me, and the convenience of not having to go to the DMV, and paying tax plus license plate transfer fee made it all worth it to me. I absolutely love the this car, and am very grateful to Rosen Hyundai for all that they did to allow me to obtain my recent used car purchase.
