I accompanied a person buying a car this past Sunday. After much negotiating on e-mail, phone, and text messaging we intended to buy a car that day and brought a check. We had advised the dealer that we were bringing a personal check which did not receive any negative response. They checked the credit which is excellent, but they wanted to renegotiate the price and require that we have their financing. Since we didn't want financing and preferred to pay by check, we were disappointed with Vancouver Hyundai instance to do financing or to pay a higher price above what was previously agreed. I don't expect that we will ever return to this dealer. Fortunately, we found a better deal elsewhere, so we needn't return there ever.

A Test Drive Turned Into a Buy

Vancouver Hyundai is in a relatively new building across the street from Vancouver Ford, which is co-owned by the same group. Vancouver Hyundai also sells the Genesis brand, which is housed in the same location as Hyundai. Researching and test driving over a year, resulting in a little brain burn out for me, I came to Vancouver Hyundai to test drive a Tucson because the it was the last car on my list and they had the trim I was interested in. When I came in Mr. Jacob Wilson (my salesman) asked if I needed any help. He was attentive to story and answered my questions. We took a test drive and I liked the car. The sticker price was way too high, (I had checked out pricing across the country)so I made a counter offer. He asked Mr. James Whiteside, the finance man, to join the negotiations to finalize the deal. There was a little back-and-forth. After agreeing on a price we closed the deal. Both Mr. Wilson and Mr. Whiteside were very polite and I never felt I was being pressured, other than being alone while making a big $$ decision. They were even kind enough to drive the car to my residence in Oregon. I've had the car six weeks and looking back, I probably could have paid a little less. In the future I probably will not enter a car negotiation alone or without praying more. The three stars are for me, not them. The staff is very good, the process is a little unnerving. My wife really likes the car.

Don't bother.

I brought my Hyundai Tucson in to repair an exploded sunroof. The Hyundai dealer had my car brought over to the Ford repair center since they are all owned by Vancouver Auto Group. After agreement with my insurance company, the service center stated it would take 9 days to repair the damages. Those 9 days have come and gone, and the completion date has changed 5 times. It has now been 3.5 weeks and I still do not have my vehicle back yet. The service center and dealership would not offer a loaner vehicle to offset the delays, but instead offered an in-house rental car for a "discounted" price. If you want your vehicle repaired in a timely fashion, and on time, I would take it somewhere other than the Vancouver Auto Group.
