EXTREMELY DISHONEST DEALERSHIP!
EXTREMELY DISHONEST DEALERSHIP! I was interested in buying a new 2025 Tucson and negotiated over several days by text, email and phone. Their website showed they had 21 new 2025 Tucsons on their lot. The salesperson, Tim, was only concerned about me coming into this office even though I explained I lived 4+ hours away so I wanted to make sure everything pricewise was in writing. I gave Tim the stock # and VIN of the vehicle I was ready to buy and all Tim kept saying was, when are you coming in. Once the numbers, including TT&L was all in writing, and Tim stated in writing, "looks good to me", I packed quickly and made the drive from Corpus Christi, TX to Friendswood, TX on Wed Dec. 3rd. 2.5 hours into my trip to the dealership, at my request, my brother drove to the dealership to ensure my chosen vehicle didn't have any dings, dents, etc. so when I arrived I could sign quickly and get back to Corpus. When my brother arrived at Big Star, he was told they don't have any 2025 Tucsons remaining, despite the fact they were still advertising my chosen vehicle and 20 others. Tim called me again a couple days later and asked me when I can come into his office and make the deal on a 2026 which I told him was a bait and switch tactic and I would not be doing business with Big Star. Then he told me they sold all their 2025's over the prior weekend even though he was negotiating on a 2025 a few hours earlier after I had given him the stock number and VIN for a specific 2025 Tuscon. Exactly one week later, Big Star is still advertising 19 new 2025 Tucsons even though I was told they had sold them all. Apparently they haven't read the Deceptive Trade Practices Act or relating to their sales tactics. I should have read all the 1-Star reviews on Yelp before wasting my time.

Do not buy your car from here.
Do not buy your car from here. It was the worst car buying experience we’ve ever gone thru. They tried to make us sign a document for our trade in before they even gave us a number and before we even decided to purchase our car here. Our salesperson Nina lied at several points of the transaction. First when we asked about a huge amount $4,530 being deducted from our trade in amount. She claimed that they were after market add ons that the dealership mandatorily made for each of their vehicles. Then she said we could haggle this with finance. We found out later that there was a document we had to acknowledge and sign to these add ons. We found this out from the Finance guy who told us we could not “haggle” that these were non negotiable. When we yelled enough about it, that had we known we would have gone to another dealership they gave us a small discount. Then she lied about our license plate brackets when we went to go pick up the car (3 days later) that there was a manufacturing defect on the front bracket that was causing an issue with the cameras. Texas requires a front license plate and we were worried about getting stopped because of it. She said they were working on a solution. Found out from the service guy doing the tinting on the car that someone took the brackets off to detail the car and lost them. Third lie was about the tinting. First she said they could do a 5% then said they couldn’t do it then said yes they could and to go ahead and bring it in to get done free of charge. It was not 5%. If you couldn’t actually do 5% then just say so and we would have paid to get it done somewhere else. Now I’m having to deal with the added frustration of getting a hold of someone at the dealership to find out why after 22 business days after they still haven’t paid off my trade in loan balance even though every time I call I’m assured that it will be taken care of immediately. No one calls me back. The employees at this dealership can’t open their mouths without telling a lie or a half truth. I know that’s kind of the expectation with car dealerships, but they seem to lie about things for no reason. Save yourself the trouble and avoid all Big Star dealerships in general. Ever since we bought the car and told our friends and family our issues we’re hearing all the bad things about it. I should have just gone back to DeMontrond in Texas City where I bought my last Hyundai. This whole thing makes me want to get rid of our new car so I don’t have to deal with Big Star ever again.

Nick was very helpful in finding the car I wanted before
Nick was very helpful in finding the car I wanted before I entered the dealership. He outlined most everything and answered all of my questions. He delivered the car quickly and it was in perfect shape to drive off the lot.

Our large dealership is really a small family business and extremely devoted to giving back to our Greater Clear Lake community which we serve. We are small business owners like many of our customers. Since we're not a corporation our profits remain local and mostly feed right back into our community; Friendswood, Webster, Clear Lake Shores, League City, Seabrook, Pearland, Texas City and Houston areas.
