Some Truth about Friendship Hyundai

Reviewed by LeeC from Blountville, TNJuly 15, 2022

We’ve purchased several vehicles from the Friendship group. Their Hyundai dealer in Johnson City is a good dealership. I’ve always had courteous sales people. The service department has never let me down, even when they did let me down. Their Service Manager has always corrected shortcomings or issues very quickly. NO SERVICE DEPARTMENT is perfect but I feel they strive to be their best! 1-star CASH ONLY review! The model for selling has changed. Finance deals do offset what was typically the inflated prices for negotiation. I suggest you read up on car buying in todays world. The Carmax woman…smh! Why wouldn’t you make CarMax fix it or make the arrangements for you. Frankly, that was a lot of nonsense on your part. We’ll be back as my wife is eyeballing the new Hyundai SUV Pallasade. 2 thumbs up to the dealership and service Dept.

Cash not good here unless you pay ANOTHER $1049.

I called my hometown JC to buy a Tuscon for my daughter. Talked to Hannah, nice and knowledgeable, and she was checking with her GM on prices. We agreed to buy one at list price since very few here in my present town as I live out of state. My daughter is moving to UT in Knoxville. I told Hannah to "Email me the sales agreement and I will sign and Fedex a Check for the full amount tomorrow." INSTEAD, I GOT A EMAIL FROM BRIAN CAMPOS, who I never talked to, STATING "SINCE YOU WANT TO PAY IN CASH THE VEHICLE PRICE GOES UP 1049. THE REASON WHY WE DO THIS IS BECAUSE WE TRY TO PUSH OUR FINANCE SINCE WE DO NOT MARK (UP) OUR VEHICLES." I called and told him that's sad. I was going to buy two, one for my son. I know I am 77 years old and have purchased 15+ vehicles for me and my family members since 1966 but not from people who come to agreements to purchase and the selling parties up the price at signing. Glad I worked by phone and text, emails. Can u imagine sitting in the showroom with ck book in hand and the written agreement comes out $1049 more than agreed upon. He further added Hannah is "just a secretary." Totally uncalled for. Take your cash elsewhere.

Dealing with their service department has been a

Reviewed by EricaApril 09, 2022

Dealing with their service department has been a nightmare. Took my car to get an oil changed and to have the locking mechanism looked at because the motor was making a horrible noise. I dropped it off at 1:30 in the afternoon and didn’t get it back until the next day. They told me they didn’t have the part and I could just come pick up my car and they would order it, but when I got there no one could find my order or my keys to give me to take my car home. 30 minutes later they found my keys and told me they would call me when the part came in. One month later I hadn’t heard anything so I decided to call them just to see if there were any updates. They said that they had the part and that they must’ve missed me on the call list. I scheduled an appointment for two weeks later to have it fixed. I told him upfront that I had a warranty through Carmax and I wanted to make sure that it would only cost me the deductible fee. They told me twice on the phone that I would only owe the deductible. When I dropped the car off to have the motor on the passenger side door lock replaced at 12:30 in the afternoon I told them that I needed my car back by tonight, and if they couldn’t to give me a call around 5 o’clock so I could make arrangements because I had to work. 530 came and no call so finally I called them and they said oh it just finished you were next on the list to call. Had to leave the car overnight and pick it up the next day… Again. When I went to pick it up they tried to charge me almost $500 for replacing the part. I had to go through the Carmax information with them again, even though I had already given them the number and been reassured twice that I wouldn’t be charged. About a week after dropping the car off I actually rode on the passenger side of my car, and keep in mind I was the first person to ride over there since having it looked at, and realized that while the sound was gone the door was not automatically locking at all. So that means I had been running around for a week with my passenger side door unlocked and didn’t know. I called the service department to let them know and schedule an appointment to come back. When I brought it back today they told me that it was going to be $386 to fix it and they would also charge me a $150 fee to have my car looked at at all. When I explained the situation again they told me that it could not have been their fault… But it seems kind of fishy that they worked on the passenger side lock and all the sudden it stopped working? Especially since it was locking before, just making a awful noise. They were nice enough to take the charge off for the evaluation today because they didn’t tell me about it upfront. All of this to say, I would never go back to their service department nor would I recommend it to anyone ever again.
