The Most INCOMPETENT and RIDICULOUS Service

My car is in their service center Five Star Hyundai of Warner Robins for the second time in a year for the same problem. Five Star has had my car with engine trouble since the first week of February 2023, almost 3 months (10 weeks) and have yet to touch my car. The problem is with the BRAND-NEW ENGINE that they sold me and installed in March of 2022 and I have hardly driven the car since the new engine was installed. This began with what sounded like a blown head gasket or a cracked engine block back in January 2022 which begin the most INCOMPETENT and RIDICULOUS customer service experience of MY LIFE. My car repeatedly went into “engine protected mode” which is an action of the engines monitoring system. Each time I would take the car to Five Star Hyundai of Warner Robins and at first Alvin the service manager at the time, told me that I had serious internal engine damage because I had a flashing and chiming engine light flashing on my dashboard, and they would have to take the engine a part to see the damage. Alvin asked me if I had an extended warrantee because my car had over 100,000 miles on it. I told him that I didn’t, but I would pay them cash for the repair or engine replacement. He said OK, but an hour later I received a text stating that my car was ready. I ignored it because it had to be a mistake because they could not have completed any of what he stated in an hour. The next day I again received a text stating that my car was ready, so I called Alvin and said my car was ready, and that the engine monitor just need an “update.” For the next 2 months I had the car towed back to them 3 times because the exact same chiming engine light and the engine monitor putting the car engine protect mode continued to occur. They continued to just reset the engine light and would give me the car back stating that the engine monitor needed another update. Little did they know that I had already called Hyundai Motor Company in January 2022 and was educated on the engine monitor, and it was indicating that it was sensing or hearing noises that indicated internal engine damage. On March 23, 2022, 9 weeks after the first time they refused to fix my car again I had to have the car towed in again for the same reason and I began to BEG them to please fix my car. I told them for the 4th time I will pay them cash to replace my engine, I just need my car fixed so this madness would end. I was told by the owner’s son to “buy a new car.” I have never in my life had such ridiculous customer service in my life. Who doesn’t want $5, 567.13 CASH to replace an engine???? Which is what I paid them IN CASH when they SWIPED MY DEBIT CARD 2 weeks later, because on that last visit they were unable to reset the engine light and give me the car back again because the engine lost compression and would not start anymore while in their service bay while I was begging them to fix it. MY CAR DIED. So that’s when they finally admitted that it had engine damage and needed a new engine. I felt that at the moment that I said that I didn’t have a warranty on that day in January of 2022 and that I would pay them myself in cash they lost interest in fixing my car because I didn’t have a warrantee and kept pushing my issue aside. Maybe because I drive a Hyundai and I’m not walking around acting high and mighty they thought I didn’t LOOK LIKE I had almost $6K to pay for repairs, but I DO! Now they have the car again, almost exactly 1 year later to the day and I’m sitting here waiting for them to fix my car AGAIN FOR 10 WEEKS. And when I call, they don’t answer the phone or SOUND UNCONCERNED with having my car FOR 10 WEEKS and have done nothing. I will be purchasing a new car this fall. It will be a car brand that DOES NOT belong to a Five Star franchise. My next car will be a Lexus or an Infinity at a dealership that takes my time and money seriously.

Amber was the SWEETEST! She sold me a 2021 Elantra limited with only 24k miles on it. The salesman who first contacted me about the car, Mr. Askew, was also very upfront and honest about the car. The price I saw online is exactly what I paid. Amber answered every question I’ve had, and went out of her way to close the deal on this car for me all online and over the phone. She even had it driven to me since I was 200 miles away. The guys who delivered the vehicle were absolute dolls. Highly recommend this dealership. They don’t include all the extra packages and fees on their cars. You get exactly what you’re expecting here. I’m creating an account JUST to leave this review.
