We worked with Robert and even as a new salesman he was amazing. He was patient with all our requests even when we changed our minds. The car we wanted wasn't on the lot but they got it for us very quickly from another dealership. This is our 2nd purchase from Hampton and we will definitely consider them again when/if we buy another!
Peeling Paint, Rude Service Department

First, DON'T buy a Hyundai, and especially don't buy one HERE. You get what you pay for. My son and I bought a new 2016 Elantra from this dealer, and in less than 4 years, the paint started peeling from the roof. And not just a little. It's too bad I can't post a photo. There are many documented instances of paint defects on Hyundais, so look it up - don't take my word for it. Unfortunately, Hyundai has shirked all responsibility for this, so as far as I can tell, the owners of these cars with peeling paint are out of luck.
As soon as the problem appeared, we called this dealer. You know that "wonderful" warranty they keep talking about? Guess what? They guarantee their paint for only ONE YEAR!! That was their answer - too bad, it's our problem.
Naturally, I emailed Hyundai corporate to voice my displeasure, and got the usual, "We're sorry you're not happy" spiel. After a few more emails, we were told to take the car in to the dealer so they could evaluate whether or not the paint was defective, and then see if they'd be willing to work with us to resolve the problem.
We did that. My son took it in, and the representative from the service department was a complete jerk. He kept repeating, "One year on paint. One year on paint." My son then mentioned that we were told by corporate to bring the car in, and the rude response was, "So? What do you want me to do about it?"
That seals the deal. I've had lots of cars in my time, in all kinds of climates, and NEVER, NOT ONCE, have I had a vehicle shed paint like this. Worse, the company, especially this dealer, clearly does not stand behind their product. These people got their one sale from me, and I hope they're happy about it, because nobody in my family will EVER buy a Hyundai again, and we'll NEVER again do business with Hampton Hyundai.
For what it's worth, I bought a new 2015 Chevy Malibu for my daughter the year before I bought this Elantra, for about the same price. I drove both cars extensively, and while the Elantra had a slight advantage in fuel economy, the Malibu was clearly the winner in every category over the cheaply made Elantra. The only reason we went with the Elantra was because of their "outstanding" warranty. Don't fall for it - go elsewhere.

My wife and I went to Hampton on our 14 yr anniversary just to browse the cars available. But after meeting Dan and having him listen to our needs and wants we walked away with the greatest car we have ever owned 2011 Sonata turbo. Thanks Dan
