Lied about all drive on a Explorer I bought.

Reviewed by Angelo in Antioch, CaFebruary 20, 2021

I went and purchased a Ford Explorer for my wife which I was told was all wheel drive. I had full conversation with the sales rep about the benefits of a 4 wheel drive in the snow. Turns out the guy had lied to me or didn’t know it was on a two wheel drive. I went back and told them just to sell me a brand new car and put everything I paid for the original towards the new one. But, they are trying to short me approximately $14k on doing the swap. So, for them to correct the issue and “help” me out, I will be losing my down payment I originally made and will not be refunded the taxes and fees. This was there mistake, I would have never bought the SUV if it was not a 4 wheel drive. I told the guy that was my only requirement I had.

Bait and switch - creepy

Reviewed by Jane Doe in Concord, CaJune 27, 2020

I was sucked in by adverts for massive sales and discount offers for Black Friday. The sales person quickly told me there were no cars left at ad prices but..... I told the sales person I could only afford $300 a month payment and I would accept nothing less than $4k on my trade-in, a pristine 2006 Escape Hybrid with only 70k miles. This was in 2018 almost 2019. The sales person left me sitting in the lobby for over an hour while the sales manager worked on the paperwork.. Finally when I was taken in to the managers office there was a sales contract that the manager said I got a totally rocking deal and he had never seen such a good deal. Hah. What a lie. I was sold a lemon for almost twice the ad price which then they supposedly gave huge discounts that brought the price to still above normal MSRP. Plus they only gave me $1200 on my trade-in. I was under the weather and exhausted after the long wait for the paper work so I didn't carefully check the numbers as I should have. I trusted that the numbers the sales person had told me were part of the sales contract - like the minimum trade-in of $4k on my Ford Escape Hybrid. My mistake. My lesson, don't trust car sales people especially the finance manager that tells you one thing while the sales contract says something else entirely.
