Don't Overpay for Your New Honda CR-V

2024 Honda CR-V Overview

After redesigning its bestselling CR-V for the 2023 model year, Honda is filling out its offerings for 2024 with a new hybrid Sport-L trim that slots between the Sport and Sport Touring in the lineup. The SUV also gets a slight price bump for the new model year and now starts at $30,795 (all prices include a $1,295 delivery charge).

Now Available in 6 Flavors
With the new Sport-L trim, Honda now offers three levels each of gas-powered and hybrid CR-Vs: LX, EX and EX-L; and Sport, Sport-L and Sport Touring. Gas-only CR-Vs are powered by a 190-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 179 pounds-feet of torque and mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission. Somewhat confusingly — but appropriate given its significant torque bump — Sport in the CR-V’s sense means hybrid. With a total of 204 hp, the hybrid is just a slight increase in power, but its turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors combine to produce 247 pounds-feet.

The base LX includes 17-inch aluminum wheels, LED headlights, keyless starting, cloth seats, an eight-position reclining rear seat, automatic climate control, a four-speaker audio system with 160 watts and a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth. Standard safety equipment includes a multi-angle rearview camera, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, active lane keeping, and adaptive cruise control with low-speed following and traffic-sign recognition.

The EX adds 18-inch wheels, a moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats (power-operated for the driver), keyless entry and a six-speaker 240-watt audio system. Step up to the EX-L and you get leather seats and steering wheel, a power rear liftgate, power passenger seat, parking sensors, a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and charging, two more speakers and another 80 watts for the audio system.

CR-V Hybrids get their Sport look from dual exhaust finishers, as well as black trim on the grille and black roof rails, mirror housings and 18-inch wheels. A firmer suspension tune pays off with improved ride and handling. Inside, orange stitching on the seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel adds flair, and even the basic Sport gets the moonroof, dual-zone climate control and heated front seats (power for the driver). The Sport trim also includes the six-speaker 240-watt audio system, and rear-seat USB ports allow all passengers access to the battery’s precious juice.

The new Sport-L trim adds leather seats, power for the front passenger seat and the rear hatch, the larger touchscreen with wireless phone connectivity and charging, eight-speaker 320-watt audio and parking sensors. At the top of the range, the all-wheel-drive Sport Touring rolls on 19-inch wheels and adds a hands-free liftgate, 12-speaker Bose sound, navigation, and blind-spot and cross-traffic monitors. The driver also gets a memory function for their seat and a heated steering wheel.
