About Lipscomb Chevrolet GMC

We opened our doors in 1979 when Richard Lipscomb, our founder and, since childhood, a lover of American cars, took over the Chevrolet & Oldsmobile dealership in his hometown of Nocona, TX. He had come into the business in the early 1970s by traveling with two fellow "car guys" to Indianapolis and Detroit and hauling back pre-owned vehicles for wholesale to various Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, and GMC dealers in Texas. Shortly after, he moved the dealership to a larger building on Highway 82 in Nocona, TX. In the late eighties, Lipscomb Chevrolet bought the Chevy dealership in Bowie, TX, and the business of selling and servicing GM vehicles was relocated to this neighboring town in Montague County. Lipscomb Chevrolet emerged from the economic downturn of the late eighties with the construction of an all-new dealership, located north of Bowie, on US Hwy 287 N. In 1992 we celebrated the grand opening of Lipscomb Chevrolet Buick GMC, selling and servicing Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, and GMC vehicles. It was another new beginning for a man whose passion for cars and whose good business sense were reflected in every customer he helped and in every vehicle his dealership sold and serviced.
