A Happy Accident

A few weeks ago our car was totaled in a collision and we needed to find a replacement quickly. My husband I both absolutely dread the car buying experience as we have had so many miserable experiences at local dealerships. However, we remembered that once, many years ago, we purchased a pickup truck from Lighthouse GMC up in Morton, Illinois. The care and service we received from Brian Moldenhauer and Jim Binegar was nothing short of phenomenal. So, we jumped onto their website and quickly found an affordable option that was not only an upgrade from what we had but also well within our budget. We made an appointment on the website for a test drive and very quickly received a text message from Ruth Moser to confirm our appointment and to see if we had any questions. Ruth graciously answered all our questions and sent us all the information we requested. Upon arriving we were immediately greeted at the door and learned the vehicle was ready for us to test drive. Just before taking the vehicle out for a test drive we were asked if there was anyone in particular we wanted to work with and of course we asked if Brian was still there. The young man said he would see if he was available while we were out for the test drive. He asked us if we were familiar with the Morton, Illinois area and when we said no he gave us some quickly and easy to follow directions for the perfect test drive experience. Before leaving the parking lot my husband and I agreed, we were sold on the vehicle. When we returned Brian was waiting for us at the door like an old friend awaiting a long overdue visit. We got caught up, like old friends do, on all the big life events, including our reason for returning to Lighthouse. Brian made the whole car buying process the most pleasurable experience going above an beyond to ensure we were well taken care of and completely happy with our choice. Being that the car that was totaled still had a lien on it and insurance had yet to pay out there was some creative financing options that needed to be researched. Two days later I received a call from Brian letting me know that they had found three different financing companies willing to work with us. The one we chose did not have a contract with Lighthouse which resulted in an extra fee, one that Lighthouse took care of instead of passing off onto us. When we came in to finalize all the paperwork we were delighted to see we would be working with Jim again. Jim took his time to go over everything with us ensuring that we understood everything we were signing and answered all of our questions. He made the most painful part of the car buying process so easy. Later when we met back up with Brian I mentioned needing to also purchase all weather floor mats Brian offered to throw in a set of new ones they had on hand at no additional charge. Brian also gifted us with gift cards for a date night dinner out as well as a delicious coffeecake courtesy of The Confectionery. Once everything was said, done, Brian took the time to sit with me in the vehicle to set up my OnStar account, connect my smart phone, programmed all my favorite radio and XM stations into the presets as well as showed me how to use all the features and perks of our new vehicle. When we left out of there we were actually happy that our previous car was totaled out. If you are ever in the market to purchase a vehicle I highly recommend going to see Brian and his team at Lighthouse.

I don't do reviews but I felt I needed to for Lighthouse. This was an absolutely shocking experience for any company these days much less a dealership. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was incredibly customer focused and some of the friendliest people I've dealt with. No games, no hassle, the actual deal probably took 5 minutes. Even though they were busy Keith and Shanin worked late to get us out the door with the truck since we drove a couple of hours to get there. Fair pricing all around and good people to work with. Do yourself a favor, go see Keith Edelman and get yourself a good deal on a clean vehicle with someone you actually will be glad to do business with.
