Great luxury car at a reasonable price

by Ira Shafran MD from Winter Park, Fla | May 30, 2020

Great car with the most beautiful performance and luxury features. Prior owner of Mercedes and Porsche and others in luxury class all pale by comparison

It’s the most unreliable car that I have owned

by Walkingman from Putnam Connecticut | May 30, 2020

It’s the most unreliable car that I have owned Subject to unpredictable loss of power on four occasions which can be very dangerous when pulling into traffic on the highway or leaving you stranded. I would not buy this car again.

Easily the best car I’ve ever owned. It is my fourth Genesis. And I will buy another one. Beautiful and comfortable with plenty of power

2017 Genesis G80 Overview

New/Notable:

The 2017 Genesis G80 is a full-size luxury sedan that competes with the Infiniti Q70, Lexus ES350, and Acura TLX. Formerly known as the Hyundai Genesis, the G80 is the first sedan released under the new Genesis brand. This year, the G80 gains additional standard active safety technology.

The G80 sedan has understated, executive styling. It features a broad shield-shaped grille that extends downward near the narrow-slit fascia. Sleek body lines stretch across the sides. The rear bumper shows off a pair of accent lights, a black-clad diffuser, and sporty exhaust tips. Standard features include Xenon HID headlights, LED daytime running lamps, a dual-pipe exhaust system, a hands-free power trunk, and power/heated side mirrors with turn signal indicators. Available features include LED fog lights, automatic dimming side mirrors, and a power trunk lid.

Under the hood, the G80 is powered by a standard 311-hp, 3.8-liter V-6 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. A more powerful 420-hp, 5.0-liter V-8 is also available. All-wheel drive (AWD) is only available for the V-6. Fuel efficiency for the G80 V-6 is a EPA-estimated 18/29 mpg city highway (16/25 mpg for the AWD). As expected, the G80 V-8 has an even lower rating of 13/23 mpg.

Inside, the G80 features a premium leather interior with a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. A full-color, 7-inch heads-up display is available for the V-8 model. The center stack features the standard Hyundai Blue Link multimedia system that includes an 8-inch touchscreen, an integrated navigation system, CD/MP3 playback, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, and a USB port. It can be upgraded with a larger 9.2-inch touchscreen and a Lexicon premium audio system. Standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control and power/heated front seats. Available features include matte-finish wood trim, a memory seat, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, sunshades for the rear side windows, a panoramic moonroof, and a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel.

The G80 was named a Top Safety Pick Plus by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It also earned a full 5-star overall crash test safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Standard safety features now include auto emergency braking, a blindspot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.
