2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid Overview (See Available Styles)

  • Hybrid version of the Fusion midsize sedan
  • New cold weather package offered for 2016
  • Estimated 44/41 mpg city/highway
The 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid takes the midsize Fusion sedan and adds a jolt of electricity to provide better fuel economy and savings at the pump.

There are a few changes to the 2016 Fusion Hybrid, including a tweaked center console and a new SE Cold Weather Package, which includes all-weather floor mats, heated seats, and a remote start system to warm up the interior before you hop in.

Styling on the Hybrid is very similar to the gas-only version but there are a few unique touches, including unique 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome grille, and hybrid badges on the sides and rear. The Fusion Hybrid is offered in three trim levels (S, SE, and Titanium), with each jump in trim adding small styling bits like fog lights, a rear spoiler, and power moonroof.

Under the hood, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine and electric motor combine to produce 188-hp which is routed through a CVT. The battery pack is lithium-ion, which is both lighter and smaller than the older nickel metal-hydride batteries previously found in hybrid cars. Fuel economy ratings are estimated at 44/41 mpg city/highway, which puts the Fusion Hybrid right in the middle of its competition including the Toyota Camry Hybrid and the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.

Inside, the Fusion Hybrid offers plenty of standard features and some exciting technology. Instead of a traditional instrument panel the Fusion Hybrid gets two screens that flank the speedometer and relay important information to the driver. It even includes a screen where the driver can “grow” leaves the more efficiently they drive, which encourages smoother inputs to enhance fuel economy. There is also instrumentation to relay real-time mpg and battery information as well. Standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, cloth upholstery, SYNC, Bluetooth connectivity, and power windows/locks. Also available are the MyFord Touch multimedia system, navigation, leather upholstery , and push button start.

Last year the Fusion Hybrid added a standard rearview camera, which joins eight airbags, antilock brakes, and electronic stability control on the standard features list. There are also plenty of safety options available, including inflatable rear seat belts, lane departure warning and prevention, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warnings with rear cross-traffic alert, and an active park assist system which will help you parallel park the vehicle.
