2016 Ford F-350 Overview (See Available Styles)

  • Diesel engine updated last year, produces more power
  • Three cabs (regular, crew, super), two bed lengths (regular, extended)
  • Can tow up to 26,500 pounds
The 2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty continues to offer great capability and utility, carrying over into the new model year with a few small upgrades such as a new supplemental heating unit in the cabin.

The F-350 is one of three Super Duty trucks sold by Ford, in addition to the F-250 and the F-450. It is a versatile truck option, with three available cab sizes and two bed lengths (6.75-feet or 8-feet), as well as single- or dual-rear wheels. Styling is brash and bold, befitting a truck of this size with a large front grille and a sculpted hood leading the way. Regular cab models have two doors, while Super/Crew cab models have four.

Under the hood, the standard engine carries over, a 385-hp, 6.2-liter V-8 that makes 405 pounds-feet of torque. The F-350’s diesel engine option got extensive updates last year, including a larger turbocharger, new fuel pump and injectors, and a new temperature control system. These combine to give the diesel engine increased power and performance. The 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V-8 now outputs 440-hp and a whopping 860 pounds-feet of torque. Both engines come mated to a six-speed automatic transmission; rear-wheel drive is standard, with four-wheel drive optional. Maximum towing capacity is 19,000 pounds, increasing to 26,500 pounds with a fifth-wheel gooseneck tow hitch.

The F-350 is offered in several trim levels, XL, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum. Inside, the cabin comes with a variety of seating options, offering a front-row bench or bucket seats, and several different rear seats depending on cab size. For buyers in colder climates, a new rapid-heat supplemental cabin heater is now standard to help warm up the interior more quickly when temperatures drop. Convenient storage spaces abound, especially in the large center console which is large enough to swallow a laptop computer. Air conditioning and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel come standard, while most other features are optional which keeps the price of the F-350 low. Heated and cooled front seats, navigation, Ford’s SYNC voice command system, and power-adjustable pedals are optional.

Standard safety features include six airbags, all-disc antilock brakes, and an electronic stability system with Roll Stability Control. For easier maneuvering in tight spaces, rear parking sensors and a backup camera are also available.
