This review is not critical of the sales team and is about another major car manufacturer and dealership owner taking advantage of the "add-on" game and here's how. On 4/3 Freedom Ford Advertised a new 2024 Ford F150 for $43,171 (I still have the email verifying that). I filled out a contact request a a sales person contacted me within 5 minutes which was great. The sales person confirmed the truck I referring to is in fact on the lot-- great. I then confirmed the price was $43,171.00 and asked something along the lines about "add-ons", as I'm just tired of that surprise being brought to the table late in conversation. The answer was "that's the price of the truck and we've added a bedcover, tinting, etc. that's not removable so the price is closer to $48K". There was no more conversation after that--clearly non-negotiable and in my case needed to be 100% removed as I was very interested in the vehicle they called me back about. So kudos to Freedom Ford Greenville by Ed Morse for solidifying the scheming dealership stereotype. Add that to the list of ways to try and confuse customers or pull them into a longwinded conversation to try and sell them on hyper inflated pricing of bed covers, window tint, theft deterrent etching, paint and interior protection, nitrogen filled tires (one of the biggest scams). Freedom Ford Greenville by Ed Morse you lost a very certain customer.

Overall, I purchased the vehicle I wanted at a fair
Overall, I purchased the vehicle I wanted at a fair price. However, we agreed to a price on the phone and in person. After they found out I wasn't financing through Freedom Ford, the salesman/manager tried to add $1,500.00 to the final price. I also asked about the Farm Bureau Recognition rebate to be applied. After debating a little, the price didn't get raised and was sent to finance where I was told the Farm Bureau rebate would be applied. The salesman didn't put it through, neither did finance. The numbers didn't add up and I was frustrated and asked to speak to the sales manager. His first response was "You seem frustrated, I'd rather not sell you a truck and get a bad review". I asked if that was really the attitude he was going to have. Can we not see what is wrong with the numbers? We looked them over and they seemed correct without the Farm Bureau rebate. By the time we got back to finance, my financing office had closed and so I had to return another day to finalize. Before I paid, they explained that the Farm Bureau rebate was included in the final price. I signed and didn't verify until later (that's my mistake) that the Farm Bureau rebate was never applied so I missed out on $500. I left, started the new vehicle and was about to drive away. Then I realized they never collected my down payment. So, I had to go back in and ask about it. I've never had a dealership forget to collect a down payment; I wonder what would have happened if I had just left. I also asked them to check the steering because in the test drive, I noticed it drift a little to the right. It shows on the service report that the steering was checked, the truck doesn't pull to the right, but they didn't align the steering wheel straight when they did it. Who’s to say that they didn’t just check a box and never looked at the vehicle. It's frustrating to spend this amount of money on a new truck for the steering wheel to be off center. This wasn't a good buying experience and the honesty of the team that sold the truck is questionable.
