Spoke to a salesperson about a used Telluride.

Reviewed by JR from Cary, NCNovember 22, 2024

Spoke to a salesperson about a used Telluride. Scheduled an appointment with the salesperson to test drive it. Drove 30 min (each way) to the dealership only to learn once I arrived that the car was no longer available. This is why people HATE car dealerships. I would recommend avoiding this dealership. After reading the reviews, I'm not the only one this has happened to. It seems to be a frequent occurrence.

I went to Leith Ford to have a side mirror replaced.

Reviewed by Sherry Salas from Raleigh, ncNovember 19, 2024

I went to Leith Ford to have a side mirror replaced. It was also time to have my car inspected and the oil changed. The parts person Donnie said that the mirror would be back ordered and that when they were available again they would be $700. He said if I didn’t mind having a used mirror, it would cost about $300 or $350. He assured me that it would work fine and would be painted. He spoke to another man and they felt that they could pass the car with just the driver side mirror. I made the appointment and came back to have this done. As a note this was the most I have ever had to pay for inspection and oil change and took hours to finish. I waited a week and when no one called I went to Leith again. I saw the mirror on the parts counter and spoke to Donnie. We made an appointment and he walked me out to my car. When I got home I started thinking about the things he said and that when I saw the mirror it had scratches on it. I decided it would be prudent to call and make sure that it was going to be painted like he said in the beginning. I’m glad I called because he was not going to have the mirror painted. Credibility in these people was waining. I had an appointment to have the mirror installed. When I went in they said the mirror was not back yet. I waited another week and no response. After about the fifth or sixth call I thought I’d better ask if the mirror would be $300 plus tax or $350 plus tax. The woman said it would be just under $550. I argued back and forth and finally said I would have to talk to Donnie. In all I made eight calls trying to talk to Donnie. To be fair there was one call from Leith. When I finally talked to Donnie he said that the other man there was supposed to tell me about extra charges. This was never done. Then he said he could try and give me a better deal. When he finished he gave me a cost of over $600. What kind of business is this? What recourse do I have? I got a call from another person at Leith. He asked me if I still wanted the mirror. I said yes and he then told me that it would be $650. I told him that I was told it would be between $300 and $350. We went back and forth. Finally he said he couldn’t do anything for less than $650. I got so upset and hung up. I have always thought that the $300 to $350 was a lot of money but I figured that going to a car dealer was going to be expensive. Even the inspection and oil change was more than I have ever paid. Are car dealers allowed to lie and cheat and not be held accountable. Do I have to see a lawyer? I am also looking for other alternatives to not let them get away with their dirty dealings. I read their reply. I never said that I didn’t want the mirror and to have it put on my car. This whole complaint has to do with the mirror (not the oil change) and the price I was quoted. The only price I was quoted. When I hung up on the man that called me it was because I was so upset that I was shaking. When I went into Leith neither Donnie nor anyone else said that there would be more charges than the $300 or $350 quoted. The most ridiculous statement in the company’s reply was that they were assuming I was going to put the mirror on myself. I am a 77 senior citizen. Is there nothing the Better Business Bureau can do for me that holds them accountable. Are car companies so powerful that they can do and say anything and the public must roll over and do whatever they say. I am beginning to feel that they are thinking this old lady might die and they would not have to be bothered by me again. All I have ever wanted was for them to honor their original cost of $300 to $350 without adding hundreds of dollars because of their greed and dishonesty.

Warning!

Reviewed by Kimberly from Raleigh, NCJuly 10, 2024

Warning!!!. Do not buy an "as-is" vehicle w/o an inspection first! I test drove a truck and it felt weird. The salesman said "this is a pick-up, that's how they drive". I took his word for it, thinking a reputable dealership would not put anything on the lot that would require substantial work. I purchased the truck and while driving home, the vibration was much more pronounced. I took it to a mechanic the next day and was told a transmission is needed ASAP. Leith said the only option is a 3 day exchange. They had NO comparable trucks. I asked if we could cancel the deal or if i could just lose the $2500 credit charge (giving them $2500 for absolutely nothing - that was my offer). THey said they can't do that. The truck the lot with a truck that had 80k more miles and is 9 years older $ $400k lower price!!!! I immediately had to put over $1k into that vehicle (tires, brakes, rotors, piston repair). Stay away from this dealership!!!!
