I visited this dealership to view a used car that was advertised online at $17xxx During my visit, I was told that the vehicle could not be purchased unless additional dealer add-ons were included, which increased the total price significantly. Some of these add-ons (such as paint protection) were described as already installed and non-removable. However, the online advertisement did not disclose these add-ons as mandatory, and the window sticker only listed add-ons without stating that they were required. After my visit, I followed up in writing and asked the dealership to confirm whether the vehicle could be purchased at the advertised price without mandatory dealer add-ons. I was told they needed to “check with the manager,” but no clear written confirmation was provided. Why this matters to consumers: In California, advertising a price that cannot actually be purchased without undisclosed mandatory add-ons may raise concerns under: • California Business & Professions Code §17500 (misleading or deceptive advertising) • California Vehicle Code §11713.1 (unfair or deceptive practices by vehicle dealers) • Federal FTC rules regarding bait-and-switch pricing Advice to other buyers: • Always ask the dealer to confirm the final price in writing • Ask clearly whether any add-ons are mandatory or optional • If a dealer avoids answering in writing or says add-ons are required but not disclosed, consider it a red flag If you experience a similar situation in California, you may file complaints with: • California DMV – Occupational Licensing Division • California Attorney General – Consumer Complaint Office I chose not to proceed with the purchase and am sharing this experience to help other consumers make informed decisions.

I came into here genuinely interested in buying a car, and at first things seemed promising — I was greeted promptly and taken on a test drive without much delay. But once we got back, the experience took a turn. The salesperson said he needed to “check on something,” and asked me to wait. Fifteen minutes later, he walked back out — cigarette in hand — clearly on a break. When I asked a simple follow-up question, he looked visibly annoyed, as if I was bothering him. When we finally sat down to talk numbers, things got worse. Instead of negotiating like a professional, he asked me what my final offer was because, in his words, he was “afraid to go to bat” for me — claiming I seemed “hard to please.” I was shocked. Apparently asking fair, direct questions about pricing and wanting transparency makes me difficult? As a woman, I left feeling talked down to, patronized, and completely dismissed. I came ready to buy a car and was met with condescension instead of respect. If you’re a woman expecting to be treated with professionalism, I strongly suggest taking your business elsewhere.
