2015 FIAT 500e Overview (See Available Styles)

  • Only available in California and Oregon
  • Estimate range of 87 miles in mixed city/highway driving
  • Standard navigation system with electric vehicle friendly enhancements
The 2015 Fiat 500e is the electric version of the diminutive two-door, offering emissions free motoring in a city friendly package.

As of now, the 500e is only available in two states, California and Oregon. From the outside, there isn’t much to distinguish the 500e from the gasoline versions but a series of small changes do mean that it is 13-percent more aerodynamic. 15-inch alloy wheels, daytime running lights, and a locking charge door come standard.

The 111-hp electric motor is powered by a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery that offers an estimated range of 87 miles in city/highway driving (driving just in the city extends the range even further). On a 240-volt Level 2 charger, the 500e can be recharged fully in four hours, and less than 24 hours on a standard household outlet. If you do purchase a 500e but need to take longer trips, Fiat will also provide 12 days of rental car service.

The 500e seats up to four passengers, but doesn’t have much room for cargo. There is only seven cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat (down from 9.5 in regular, hard-top models) thanks to the placement of the batteries. The standard features list is much longer on the 500e with leatherette upholstery, automatic climate control, USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 500e specific navigation system coming on every model. The navigation system, which is produced by Tom Tom, is customized to help EV owners by displaying important locations such as charging stations and range/power-flow gauges. There is also a smartphone app which allows owners to set the charging time, check current battery status, and even turn on the climate control before you hop in.

Standard safety features include seven airbags, antilock brakes, and electronic stability control.
