on one of the coldest pre-Christmas days, my 2025
on one of the coldest pre-Christmas days, my 2025 Pacifica would not start. A message said the remote start was disabled. At one point I could not even get the key fob to open the door. AAA could do nothing. The dealership said to have it towed in, but offered that perhaps if I could disconnect the battery and reconnect it might reset the system. As an older widow, I was unable to do this & had no one to help me. I spent MUCH time googling resources, i.e. towing services & rental places that would DELIVER the car, since Eastgate had NO LOANERS available. A 2ndary call gave me info on who to call for a tow which was covered under warranty. I had no idea!! I certainly wish someone would have said that in the beginning. NOTE: it was an extremely cold week, & I am sure you were short staffed, but it was next to impossible to get anyone to answer the phone to find out what was going on. Eventually, TOM called me and said he would provide an update before their 6 PM closing. This was the 2nd day. He did call me a few minutes before 6 PM to say they thought it was fixed, but wanted to keep it overnight to be sure it would start in the morning. He also said that given my location, someone could probably come to get me since I had no transportation. He was going to be off the next day but said DOUG would be taking care of my car. The next day, I tried to reach Doug, left messages. Again, I was trying to find out if I needed to rent a car? I had Christmas events to take care of & doctors appointments for my disabled adult kids who live with me. A lady I talked to, told me that Tom was off, which I already knew, & I would have to wait till the next day to talk to Tom when he returned. WHAT!!! Eventually a very nice lady picked me up & I got my van. There seemed to be confusion. I never really got a full answer as to what was wrong with the car. I am afraid to use my remote start to warm up the car. At first they tried to charge me $219, but a service tech was in the office & noted that something seemed to be wrong since this was a new van. He looked at the paperwork and noted this repair was under warranty so there was no charge. Both persons in the office were commenting to each other about the paperwork being incomplete. I have not had many dealings with the service area, even though I bought a 2019 caravan in 2020 and now have the 2025 Pacifica. Hopefully this was a fluke due to the extreme temperatures & holiday time. I do wish Eastgate would have a better system of either loaners or availability of rentals for people like me who don’t have resources of others available to drive me. EVEN offering to drive me a couple of blocks down the street to ENTERPRISE would be helpful.
