I believe that ANY GOOD review is written by them only and fake.- I would hardly believe anybody had a good experience! They ARE liars, cheaters, and xxxx. The service dept will lie and rip you off in a second. The owner could not care less if someone bad mouths them! They will NEVER just do the right thing. They are really unbelievable. Do NOT go there. YOU WILL BE SORRY

Illegal fees they try to squeeze in, watch out!

Negative stars for illegal business practices confirmed by the NY DMV! I've reported them! I don't usually post but in this case its not my opinion...This is factual! They were so wrong with this one. I am obligated to let people know! I live in MA. I was buying a financed car from this NY dealership. I wasn't going to pay their outrageous "dealer prep" fee, anyone who knows about buying cars knows this is a bogus charge. Don't ever pay it! They already have that factored into the sale of the car so they are just charging you twice for that to make extra money off you(double charging, its a theme). They removed it, so we finally agreed on p/u date & confirmed deal. I was waiting on the paperwork to review and sign. MA doesn't do temp plates so I had to buy the car first and transfer the plates so I could bring the car home. The dealer was aware of this, he said that date would work. Once I knew it was a done deal (we both agreed) and I just needed to sign to finalize, I booked the "get car" trip. I had seen all the numbers and everything seemed fine until...Joe G. actually sent the docs, thats when the extra fee, that wasn't discussed, was added! I was already paying a NY Doc fee which is $175. But they added a $350 "out of state registration fee", that is what they called it at least. I knew I would have to pay for the actual MA RMV charges (transferring registration & title) but thats it. I was ok with that, it was $100. I coulda argued over the Doc fee too but I didn't, they are not legally required to charge a Doc fee. Although, they won't tell you any of that either. They have their typical excuses "oh we have to charge that cuz we have expenses to pay our people who do that blah blah" or "everyone pays that". You gotta pick your battles right?! however, I was not ok with the extra $250 above the $100 to service my paperwork to the MA RMV. I didn't need this car and I sure wasn't ok with getting ripped off by illegal fees, no matter how small! So, after lots of failed excuses, guilt tripping and complaining trying to explain the "why" I HAVE to pay it. I told the finance guy, Joe G. that "I would gladly pay this fee if he could show me that it was legal to do so"!...Needless to say, he has not called me back. He did not even have the character to let me know that he was wrong", nor has he shown me any proof that is it legal to do that. How could they though , ITS NOT LEGAL!! Thats probably why! I hope it was worth the illegal $250 to them. I'm sure it is going to cost them a lot more than that in the end, not just monetarily but in business character. After all it was a good sale till they did something illegal, then they ended it cause I wouldn't play, and they wanted me out asap so I wouldn't cause trouble for them. At this point it is the principal of it. They tried to rip me off even when I told them it was illegal and they didn't care...they continued multiple times to get me to pay it, what does that say to you? I'll find that same car somewhere else. Riverhead CDJR reneged on a perfectly good deal because they are petty, lying, cheats. I called them out! Once, I mentioned that this wasn't legal, they didn't want to make it right. sound like good practices to you? The whole dealership was extremely rude and they got really nasty, well not Mike, Mike kept it professional, still didn't do his job but kept his demeanor! Shame on the rest of them for treating customers like this, especially since they are wrong, and by wrong, I mean LEGALLY WRONG! The NY DMV website says the fee is $175 max, it means just that, no more, no matter what! Doesn't matter if they had to pay another party to do it, that is not my problem, it is the cost of doing business. I wonder what excuse they will try to rebuttal to this review or at least try to save face somewhere. I can't wait to see them try.
