You can't make this xxxx up!!

Reviewed by Demona from Rome, NYAugust 20, 2022

On July 30th I attempted to purchase a used vehicle from Romano CDJR. I put down $5,000 as a downpayment to help lower my monthly payments. This was on a Saturday, so Mark and Jon told me the banks were not responding and that they would try again on Monday. I called Tuesday afternoon to inquire about the status as I hadn't heard anything and was told the financial person in charge, Mark, was out due to a family emergency. The receptionist asked if I wanted to leave a voicemail and I declined as I didn't want to bother him. I called back on Friday and this time I did leave a voicemail as when I called I asked for him and was not told whether he was in or not. I still did not hear anything back so I called again on Monday and was now sent to a voicemail for someone named Bill. He didn't bother to call me back either. I gave him a couple of days figuring if Mark was out, maybe he took over and was swamped. Wednesday rolls around and I call and ask for Jon, my salesman. I ask him about the status and if they were able to find a lender for me. He wanted to know if anyone had called me back and I said no. He apologized for this, said he would find out, and get back to me. He even took my number again. Big surprise, he didn't call back either. Now I'm guessing they can't get me financed so I start looking elsewhere. On monday, August 15, I called and spoke with Jon again. He asked if I had heard back, I said no, and again he apologized. At this point I asked for a refund on my $5,000 deposit. Obviously they aren't able to find a lender. Jon took down my visa debit card number and told me they would refund the whole amount that day and that it would take a couple of days to post back to my account. Skip to Thursday, August 18, nothing is even pending in my account so once again I am calling them. I ask the receptionist whom I think is named Shannon but I'm not sure, to whom do I speak to about refunds. She tells me that is her, so I ask her and she doesn't remember doing one for that amount. She says she will find out and call me back. She didn't. I call her back exactly one hour later and she tells me it got lost on the manager's desk and it hasn't been done. I ask her to do it now and she says she can't as it needs the managers approval and he's not in. OK fine. So of course I'm getting a bit mad so I ask why wasn't this handled on Monday as I went elsewhere and I had given them enough time to get the money back into my account so I could close the deal with the other dealership. She asks if I would like to speak with Mark as she is just the receptionist, so I do and he just basically says the same thing and that they will get it done ASAP, but they need the manager's approval. To which I tell him at my current employer, if a supervisor/manager is not in, we get a verbal approval via phone/text. Again he just says they'll get it done ASAP. I also told him if it wasn't done by Friday I'd get a lawyer involved to which he responded go ahead if I feel the need to. (At this point I should say that I did find another vehicle at a Jeep dealership in Oneida and I have financing already taken care of and am just waiting on this deposit to be refunded to me so I can pick up my new 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. They advised me that a refund shouldn't need an approval and that they could even cut me a paper check.) I call Mark again within a few minutes and tell him that I feel like they are giving me the run around. I'm worried as this is a large amount of money, and I feel that they are prohibiting me from closing my deal with the other dealership and, as suggested by said dealership, to cut me a check so I can pick up that night or Friday. To which he responded that Shannon just refunded the money to my card. GREAT! So now it's August 20, I still have not received my refund and I needed to push back my pick up date for my new vehicle to next Thursday. I AM LIVID!! Who does business like this?

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

Reviewed by Rita from Baldwinsville, NY August 13, 2021

The worst car dealership I have ever bought from!! I purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, brought it home and that night noticed lights on inside. The main brain (radio that controls everything!) could not update. It would not shut off so my battery went dead. Brought it back and they had it for a month replacing the main brain. They lost my keys while it was there and when I picked it up, filthy!! My brand new mats, that I had to purchase because the car didn't come with any, were loaded with salt and the outside was a mess!! 3 months later I go for an oil change and find that my back brakes are rotted! Rusted and digging in to the rotors. The dealer didn't notice this when I asked to put new tires on when I bought it???? BS!!!
