2016 Chevrolet Equinox Exterior

2016 Chevrolet Equinox Overview (See Available Styles)

  • Restyled exterior for 2016 includes a new grille and front fascia
  • Compact crossover seats five across two rows
  • 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability standard via OnStar
The 2016 Chevrolet Equinox gets a new look for the new model year with a restyled exterior that includes a new grille up front and available LED daytime running lights.

These updates are for the most part limited to the exterior, the powertrains are the same and the interior is slightly updated with a new storage self in the center console and new graphics in the infotainment system. The Equinox’s  new styling is similar to the updates seen through Chevy’s lineup; the grille is more pronounced, LT and LTZ models get attractive LED daytime running lights, and large fog lights (also optional) complete the look. There are also new 17- and 18-inch wheel designs. A power liftgate and power sunroof are also available.

Under the hood, the Equinox has two engine options; the base engine is a 182-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder with a 301-hp, 3.6-liter V-6 optional for those who are seeking more power and performance. A six-speed automatic is the only transmission option and front-wheel drive is standard with an all-wheel drive system optional for added traction. Fuel economy ratings top out at 22/32 mpg city/highway for four-cylinder, FWD models.

The trim levels have been slightly tweaked for 2016 as well, the Equinox is now offered in L, LS, LT, and LTZ trim levels (no more 1LT and 2LT). Besides the updates to the center console, there are also new seat fabrics and available tablet holders that drape over the front seats to let kids in the back watch videos or play games. Standard features include cloth upholstery, air conditioning, a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, USB port, OnStar with 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability (subscription required), and cruise control. Also available are navigation, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and leather upholstery.

Standard safety features include the OnStar emergency communication system, six airbags, antilock brakes, and electronic stability control. The Equinox also offers plenty of safety technology, including a rearview camera, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind spot detection with rear cross-traffic alerts, and rear park assist.
