2016 Chevrolet Corvette Exterior

2016 Chevrolet Corvette Overview (See Available Styles)

  • Mostly unchanged for 2016, adds a few new color packages and trim pieces
  • Available as a coupe or convertible
  • High-performance Z06 model
The 2016 Chevrolet Corvette represents the third year for the two-seat rocket ship since its 2014 redesign and it carries over mostly unchanged for 2016, save for the addition of some new color/styling options.

The Corvette is offered as a hardtop coupe, or a convertible with a power soft top that can raise/lower via remote and at speeds of up to 30 mph. From the outside, styling is sharp and angular, with generous creases and folds that are not only attractive – they also help with aerodynamics or to funnel air to key engine components. The hood is made out of carbon fiber to save weight and on the coupe, the removable roof panel is as well. LED daytime running lights and taillights complete the look and give the Corvette a distinct visual signature, especially at night. Wheel sizes range from 18 to 21 inches.

Under the hood, most Corvette models have a 455-hp, 6.2-liter V-8 that makes 460 pounds-feet of torque and is mated to a seven-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Match or an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters. Active Rev Match blips the throttle automatically to it is at the appropriate RPM when you shift. Adding a performance exhaust system adds 5-hp to the V-8’s output. Z06 models get a more powerful 650-hp, supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that makes a matching 650 pounds-feet of torque and has the same transmission options. Also available is Magnetic Selective Ride Control, which allows the driver to select different suspension settings for a variety of situations.

Inside, the two-seat Corvette comes with plenty of standard features including leather upholstery, an 8-inch touchscreen, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, a Bose audio system, and OnStar communications with Wi-Fi hot spot capability. New for 2016 is a flat-bottom steering wheel that keeps controls for the audio and phone systems. Also available are powered/heated seats, navigation, a recorder that stores performance data and video of laps at a track, and a universal home remote.

Standard safety features include four airbags, a rearview camera, antilock brakes, and electronic stability control. A new safety feature for 2016 are curb-view cameras, so you can see the side of the car while reversing and don’t scratch the wheels or bodywork.
