Lied to about condition of car . Drove 3.5 hrs to find check engine light and damage to rear bumper of a certified pre owned car.

Deceptive, deceitful, and zero remorse when caught. We had everything lined up over the phone—we just needed to show up and sign the papers. We drove 3 hours to this dealership and they assured us everything was in order with this “certified” vehicle. We arrived and when the sales associate pulled the vehicle up, we were informed the check engine light was on. Annoying, but we stayed patient to see what the code said. 30 minutes pass and service has yet to look at the vehicle—despite us being the only customers there. We go back to check out the car. The bumper is smashed. The tail gate won’t open. I got under the vehicle and the exhaust was smashed against the frame because of the pressure from the broken bumper. We obviously decided to abandon the deal at this point. The smug sales manager took zero accountability and basically said, “It is what it is. I can take $1k off.” $1,000 wouldn’t even cover the cost of a new bumper. The sales associate was mortified and could not stop apologizing. The sales and finance people were great to work with and were very kind. The sales manager was awful and I’m 100% sure he thought they were going to pull one over on us.
