We purchased a used 2021 Tahoe from Bachman last week and the sales process was a lackluster experience to say the least. The salesman we dealt with acted like we were putting him out while both looking at and then purchasing the car. Granted, this was a used car on their "discounted" lot, that was an as-is sale. We were offered the chance to take the vehicle to my mechanic to have it looked at for any major issues before purchasing the SUV. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the vehicle had a blown, or at least leaking front drivers side shock, and at 124,000 miles, that it would most likely need some more serious maintenance, plugs, wires, air filter etc. So, they did lower the price by about $1,000.00, even though the maintenance that is required will cost just north of $5,000.00. That being said, the price worked for what we were willing do to make the purchase. Up until this point, aside from an estimated payment, no actual numbers were ever shown to us as far as payment. I had paid $1,000.00 to hold the vehicle and allow me the opportunity to take the vehicle off the lot to my mechanic. When I showed up to pick the vehicle up, all 4 tires were low on air and our salesman, Othello told me that I would need to stop and air them up. Not very professional in my opinion. Anyhow, I returned the vehicle and then we went back a few days later to pick it up. When we came in, our salesman was sitting at his desk leaning over his trashcan cutting his fingernails. He got up and went to get the finance guy (we still hadn't seen numbers) and then walked off somewhere. The finance guy came back and offered 3 different payment options. All 3 included warranties. I chose the cheapest payment option and then he walked away again. After thinking about his numbers and doing some quick math, I realized they would basically be charging $6,500.00 for a warranty over the term of the loan that only covered the powertrain and wheels. So, I walked over to the finance office and told them that I wasn't interested in the warranty and to take it off of the loan amount and payment schedule. This guy was super aggressive in trying to get me to keep it on there. So much so that I was really close to telling them to just refund my deposit and that we would take our business elsewhere. He finally said he would take it off, so, he continued to take off and finish the paperwork. And look, I get why they want to sell warranties. It's straight profit (no overhead) and usually have mark-ups of 300%. So, essentially, they would have been making a huge profit on just the warranty. Anyway, they finally walked over, we signed the paperwork, and I transferred the remaining $7,000.00 of the $8,000.00 deposit and we were ready to go. Only, our "salesman" was nowhere to be found with our keys. When he finally reappeared, I asked for the keys so that we could leave. He handed me one key and stated that was the only key they had. If the money hadn't already been deducted from my account and paperwork signed, we would have gotten our deposit returned and left. So, not only bad customer service and high-pressure sales tactics from the finance department, but now, while walking out the door we get informed that we only get one key, when new key fobs are $500.00. I sent a message to Othello they next day to see if they could at least offer a discount on a second key and it took him over a day to respond, because why respond to someone when the sale is finished and you clearly don't think they will be repeat customers. After that experience, we definitely won't be. I get that it was a used vehicle, but when you're spending over $40,000.00 on a car, I would expect better service. 10 out of 10, I don't recommend.
