Once I sent an email through cars.
Once I sent an email through cars.com with an offer they immediately increased the price by almost $500 in their response. I received 4 different emails from 4 different people. I responded with my number to the second sales person. I responded to the 4th email stating I hadn't received a call and then received a call a couple of days later. I live about 2 hours away from dealership but was in the are about a week later so I decided to stop in with my checkbook in hand. Everyone was really nice, I spoke with staff about the corvettes in the showroom and that I'd rather be purchasing one of them but I was buying something a little more practical for commuting. I got this young salesman who was training an older salesman that was new. I asked them to honor the original price on cars.com which they accepted. When he brought back the quote, it included $4000 insurance, Simonize charges already done to the vehicle, and Theft deterrent "Etching" which was already done to the vehicle. They also provided other items they invested into the car, such as a flat tire repair kit and a computer reprograming, which would have been covered under warranty. I told them I wouldn't pay for any of the add-ons. The young salesman got approval to remove the charges. Then later I was confirming the vehicle came the dual level charger that came with the car from manufacturer, the young salesman went out and found out that there wasn't one in the vehicle. I said it needs to come with a charger otherwise how am I going to charge it? Then I found the GM part number and found a price of about $450. I explained, I know the dealership cost is half that. He went over to request the charger to be included and came back with a printout that showed the suggested retail price of the vehicle and was told "This is why there isn't a charger in the vehicle." If that was the case then they should have disclosed that just like the other add on items! Honestly, out of principle and their deceptive practices, I told the young man that I was leaving and that if they changed their mind, he had until I drove out of my parking spot. They've had the vehicle on the lot for 4 months, I was a cash payer and they lost a sale over a couple hundred dollars. Suggestion for the company, Be HONEST and open with disclosures! Maybe I am spoiled by by local dealership that I have a very personal relationship with or maybe I expect more from society, I'm not sure. I know they advertise being dealership of the year, maybe for new vehicles but I would request they do better transparency! So, to sum it up, Friendly Employees but management needs to work on price transparency.
