This is a beautiful car.
This is a beautiful car. The world goes away when you close the door. She?s perfect for long rides from FL to PA or just jaunts around town. The sound system is gorgeous. But GM really dropped the ball with the 2018 XT5. AutoNation didn?t drop the ball. They didn?t design the car - with parts, systems and equipment that was poorly designed. According to multiple Advisors and Cadillac dealers, ?(A lot of) 2018 XT5s have issues with: -The cheap plastic clips used in the retractable moon roof ?break all the time? and GM knows it. -?Those tire pressure sensors break all the time? and ?once the first one goes, they ALL go.? (Truer words never spoken) And, of course, ?It?s really that the battery that powers them is dead and needs to be replaced.? And of course, the obligatory ?GM knows about it?? This is to the tune of $200 per sensor minus the labor which puts this job at about $1K. I replaced my Thermostat at Holman Cadillac in 2022 at well under 100K miles. I have the paperwork to prove that. On November 29,2025, I was informed that ?Your thermostat needs to be replaced.? WHY? Why am I paying $90 for an oil change at both AutoNation and Fred Beans in PA, but at Holman in NJ, they?re raking me for $150. Does Jesus work at Holman? A week before the thermostat diagnosis, I had to replace my water pump. Another $1,000 My service advisor, Steven Janer, is just impeccable and conscientious. He is among the very best Advisors I?ve ever had. The same goes for Manager John DeLisa. He is bar none the most hands-on GM I?ve ever known. He is always accessible and LISTENS. Like a Father would listen. Then, he steers things the right way. Period. I knew him when he was a service advisor at another Dealer and he was the same then, as an Advisor. Iconic GM is not what it used to be. Now, they are just rank and file, stereotypical representation of all the bad things people think and say about car dealers. What a shame. They were the last bastion of greatness in American cars. Now, they just don?t care and notoriously stick it to the people who patronized them for DECADES. This will be my last Cadillac, solely because of the xx I have been mired in since I bought my ?certified used? XT5. I deeply regret relinquishing my beautiful SRX for this car and wish I?d bought the GM Acadia that sat next to my XT5. IF GM ?knew about? all these and other afflictions, why do we have to pay for it? Don?t knock the child for the sins of the father. AutoNation is a good dealer with good mechanics and some of the best Advisors. GM should be ashamed of themselves.
