Has a transmission problem in the 8 speed!

by George from Fort Mc Coy | February 16, 2020

I already had to spend $534 on the transmission, GM won't back the problem, says the transmission fluid used wasn't good for the 8 speed transmission had to have transmission Flushed and refilled with Mobil 1 Blue transmission fluid, people are trying to get a Class Action lawsuit against GM but they are fighting it.

Quality is not there!

We purchased the car in March 2017. The first time we took it in for service was April 2018 the were able to fix most everything except the squeaky brakes, not too happy about that. Of course it has done it even since then. The next time we took the car back in December of 2018 we had a horrible smell in the car which they supposedly fixed said it was mold in the duct work. We did also had to pay for this service which we really didn’t think it was right. We should we be changed for their design flaws? The fix/remedy only lasted a short time. We’re going to take the car back soon for service & a recall. Since we have had the car we have noticed many different problems with the electronics & swishing sounds in the steering. The Cue panel will sometimes not even come on & l can’t get it to do anything. The lights on the shifter go out on it, when we drive the car at times it feels like we’re driving over a rumble strip. For a supposedly luxury car, it’s far from it!

2017 Cadillac ATS Overview

New Notable

The 2017 Cadillac ATS comes as either a compact 4-door sedan or a 2-door coupe. It competes with the Lexus IS 200t, Lincoln MKZ, and BMW 3 Series. This year, the trim levels have been revised and the Cadillac CUE multimedia system has been updated. The sedan and coupe each have a high-performance ATS-V version. It will be covered in a separate overview.

The same three trims available for both body styles: the base model, Luxury, and Premium Performance.

The ATS has sleek geometric bodylines, a large crest-shaped grille, and vertical slab headlights that stretch back to the middle of the hood. Standard features include a dual-pipe exhaust system, Brembo performance brakes, 17-inch alloy wheels, power/heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, active grille shutters, and an LED rear stop lamp. HID headlights, LED signature lighting, and a power moonroof are also optional. An available Carbon Black appearance package comes with black exterior accents and unique painted 18-inch wheels.

Under the hood, the ATS is powered by a standard 272-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to an 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, while all-wheel drive is available for the Turbo 2.0 models. The Premium Performance trim comes with a 333-hp, 3.6-liter V-6 paired to the 8-speed automatic and RWD. Fuel economy for the Turbo 2.0/FWD models is an EPA-estimated 22/31 mpg city/highway. It lowers slightly to a 22/30 mpg rating for the AWD models. The V-6 model has a lower rating of 20/30 mpg.

Inside, the ATS has standard leather-trim seating with a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. The center stack features the now standard Cadillac CUE multimedia system that includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, OnStar 4G LTE connectivity with a Wi-Fi hotspot (subscription required), a wireless charging station, 3 USB ports, and a Bose premium audio system. Standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, power windows/locks, remote keyless entry, keyless passive entry, remote vehicle start, and cruise control. Leather upholstery, power/heated front seats, a memory seat, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and sport aluminum pedals are available as well.

Standard safety features include a backup camera and a tire pressure monitoring system. Available active safety features include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, forward collision alert, a blindspot monitoring system, and rear cross-traffic alert. Sport-tuned, adaptive suspension with Magnetic Ride Control and a limited-slip rear differential are available for the Premium Performance trim.
