2016 Audi Q5 Overview (See Available Styles)

  • Compact luxury crossover with seating for five
  • Competes with the BMW X3 and Acura RDX
  • Turbo-diesel available for better fuel economy
The 2016 Audi Q5 offers luxurious comfort for up to five passengers and SUV utility in a stylish package with an interior that lives up to Audi’s high standards for quality and usability.

The Q5 adds standard features for the second straight year; last year, a power liftgate and xenon HID headlights were added and for 2016, that list grows to include a panoramic moonroof. Audi Connect is also included in the Navigation Plus Package, while the Technology Packages gets a Bang & Olufsen sound system. There are three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige.

From the outside, the three Audi SUVs (Q3, Q5, and Q7) share very similar styling; curves at the corners, unique LED daytime running lights, and waterfall grilles up front. 18-inch alloy wheels come standard, with 19- and 20-inch wheels also available. Heated side mirrors, LED taillights, and the aforementioned panoramic moonroof also come on every Q5.

Under the hood, there are three engine options (two gasoline, one diesel). The base engine is a 220-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that comes in 2.0 TFSI models. A 272-hp, supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 is optional, offering more performance. Rounding out the engine options is an efficient 240-hp, turbo-diesel 3.0-liter V-6 that returns the best fuel economy of the three. Quattro all-wheel drive comes standard and an eight-speed automatic is the only transmission option.

Inside, the Q5 is well equipped with leather upholstery, tri-zone automatic climate control, real wood trim pieces, power front seats, satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and iPod integration. The second row slides forward/back for comfort and is split 40/20/40 for more versatile seating/cargo options. Behind the second row is 29.1 cubic feet cargo space. Also available are navigation, heated/ventilated front seats, HD radio, Bluetooth streaming audio, and a Bang & Olufsen 14-speaker sound system.

Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, antilock brakes, and electronic stability control. Audi also offers additional safety technology with the Q5, including a backup camera, blind spot warning system, extra airbags, and front/rear parking sensors.
