Drives like a new car!

by CWilson44 from Burke, VA | January 10, 2020

The Audi A6 3.0T Quattro AWD is a joy to drive. Lots of pep yet feels solid on the road. It has several features that I'm still setting up and getting used to after owning the car only 1 week. I will give an update after I have driven a few more miles. So far, great!

2017 Audi A6 Overview

New/Notable

The 2017 Audi A6 is a mid-size luxury sedan that competes with the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes E-Class, and Volvo V60.

Four trim levels are available: the Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige, and Competition.

This year, the S Line exterior design and 18-inch alloy wheels come standard for all A6 models. The S Line front bumper has an aggressive, wide-mouth fascia with a flared, lower lip. The front grille remains large and prominent for air intake. Other standard features include Xenon automatic headlights, LED daytime running lights, rear fog lights, power/heated side mirrors with LED turn-signal indicators, and a dual-pipe exhaust system. LED headlights, front fog lights, black mirror housing, a power moonroof, and unique 19- or 20-inch wheels are available as well.

Under the hood, the A6 Premium is powered by a standard 252-hp, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive; and produces 273 pounds-feet of torque. An 8-speed automatic with the Quattro all-wheel drive system is also optional. A more powerful 333-hp, supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 joined with the 8-speed automatic and Quattro AWD is available for the Premium Plus; and comes standard for the Prestige and Competition. The Competition trim is tuned to produce 340-hp with the same powertrain.

Fuel economy is best with the FWD four-cylinder models (24/35 mpg), followed by the AWD four-cylinder models (22/32 mpg), and finally, the V-6 models (20/30 mpg).

Inside, the A6 has standard leather-trim seating with power/heated front seats and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. The center stack features the MMI infotainment system, which includes CD/MP3 playback, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, and an update music interface with a Lightning adapter for iPhones. It can be upgraded with a retractable 8-inch touchscreen, an integrated navigation system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, 4G LTE connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot, and a Bose premium audio system. Standard features include wood and aluminum interior accents, tri-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, and power windows/locks. Available features include four-zone automatic climate control, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, ventilated front seats with massage, and heated rear seats. The Competition trim comes with special Valcona perforated leather seats and a sporty, flat-bottom steering wheel.

The A6 earned a full 5-star overall crash test safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Standard safety features include a backup camera and a tire pressure monitoring system. The available Drivers Assistance package includes the Audi Pre-Sense Plus Safety System with active safety features, adaptive cruise control, high beam assistance, lane keep assist, and top-view camera system. Also available are night vision, which uses infrared cameras to help you see pedestrians at night, a head-up display, side air bags, and front/rear parking sensors.
