I Switched and drove the extra 30 minutes/miles from Lindsay Acura to Columbus Acura. I had the excessive oil consumption test done again on my 2012 TL with 66,000 miles (Acura forced to do so by class action law-suit). During the test I asked them to check the fan blower motor, sounded like there may be leaves in it making noise. Yes there were leaves in there. Since I had a third party warranty Columbus Acura charged the Warranty company for a new blower motor (which cost me $100 deductible) instead of just removing the leaves... When the oil test failed, I took my TL in to have the pistons and rings replaced. While in the shop they called and said the alternator went out. I know things fail but ironic that I never had any issues prior and it fails while in Columbus Acura shop, another $$$ and additional $100 deductible (after I declined several other things they said needed repaired/replaced). I asked how much it would be to replace the timing belt and water pump while replacing the pistons and rings. $732.95 is what they charged, (you have to take the original timing belt off to do the piston and rings). Basically charging twice for labor.
When I picked it up and started it there were numerous lights flashing. I went in and notified the service advisor. They took the car in, checked the computer errors and reset. Assured me it was just carbon because they don't clean the heads when they do the piston and ring replacement and that there was just a little coolant that leaked into one of the cylinders and it was good to drive, it would be ok. I live 100 miles drive and barely made it home it ran so rough. All check engine lights came back on after 75 miles. Called them, Columbus Acura asked if I wanted to drive it back in. I had it towed (I had to do all the leg work to set up towing, pay for it and then be re-reimbursed). They had it for about one week, calling me to say the head gasket failed and they replaced it and cylinder # three rings and piston. When I picked it up, no apologies for me having to take time off and drive 100 miles twice. I asked them to check the catalytic converter to make it was not damaged from their shady work, they did not check it. I get the TL home (this was the third time car was not washed nor vacuumed) I went to check under the hood...there was a bracket mount missing a screw, a grommet holding the engine skirting missing and a spark plug laying on top of the engine, not to mention oil and grease smudges all over the engine. I sent photos to the service advisor the next morning with no response. There were three advisors, the third, was Larry Jones. I do not remember the service managers name that assured me it was ok to drive the TL after all the warning lights and severe knocking and missing. I will not ever let Columbus Acura touch my car nor would I recommend them. This will also be my last Acura/Honda.
Great used car purchase experience
