2011 Volvo S60 Overview
After taking a year off, the all-new 2011 Volvo S60 luxury sedan is back and better than ever.
Powering the 2011 Volvo S60 is a new 300-horsepower, turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that produces 325 pounds-feet of torque. The S60’s engine is mated to a six-speed automatic with auto-manual mode and features all-wheel drive. With two chassis settings, the 2011 S60 can add more driving support by selecting Advanced Stability Control, or select Sport-mode for a more exhilarating performance. Fuel estimates are 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Competitors for the 2011 Volvo S60 include the Infiniti G37x, Acura TL and Cadillac CTS.
Not only has the engine been improved, but the box-like exterior of the previous S60 has been jettisoned for a new, sleek and stylish design. The S60 has been designed to be the most dynamic Volvo ever. Eighteen-inch alloy wheels come standard, while 17-inch rims are available. A power glass moonroof and dual xenon headlights with active bending light are both optional.
On the inside, the 2011 Volvo S60 seats five and comes equipped with standard automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, heated side mirrors, HD Radio, Sirius Satellite Radio, and a CD stereo with auxiliary and USB ports for your mobile devices. The rear 60/40-split folding seat, as well as the front bucket seats, can be finished in rich brown leather, and the floating center control panel can be finished in either aluminum or wood. Heated front seats with power, a navigation system with voice control, Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound system and rear seat entertainment system with dual DVD players are optional.
When it comes to safety, well, it’s a Volvo. Standard safety features abound in the S60 starting with dynamic stability and traction control, antilock brakes, side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags, an electronic stability system and active front head restraints. To help reduce the risk and consequences of a low speed collision in urban traffic, the Volvo S60 features City Safety, which is designed to lessen the severity or prevent a rear-end collision with another vehicle. The optional Pedestrian Detection system with Full Auto Brake keeps an eye out for pedestrians or anything else that unexpectedly crosses your path. Lane Departure Warning, blind-spot monitoring system and front and rear parking sensors work in unison to keep the S60 on the straight-and-narrow at all times.
If you’re looking for a sporty luxury sedan that has ample power, a sleek exterior/interior and all the safety features you can imagine, then you won’t have to look any further than the resurrected 2011 Volvo S60.
