2012 Volvo C30 Overview
When one thinks of Volvo, safety is usually the first thing to come to mind. Add that all-important aspect to sporty, open coupe styling, fuel efficiency, and ample power and you have the 2012 Volvo C30 coupe.
Volvo adds two packages to spruce up the options for the 2012 C30. The Premier Plus package adds LED daytime running lights, a three-way power driver’s seat, power front passenger seat, and a power glass moonroof, while the Platinum Package adds a navigation system with Map Care, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and a Dolby Pro Logic II 12-speaker premium sound system. A security system and Bluetooth® connectivity are now standard features on all trims.
What sets the 2012 Volvo C30 coupe apart from all other vehicles is its large glass hatch that provides an open environment for the occupants. The T5 rests on 17-inch alloy wheels, while the R-Design features 18-inch or five-spoke 17-inch wheels, dual chrome-plated tailpipes, Silk Metal rear view mirror covers, and an enlarged front grille with R-Design badge. The C30 competes with the Mini Cooper S and Volkswagen GTI.
The 2012 Volvo C30 coupe seats four passengers - two up front and two in rear bucket seats that are placed inward of the front seats. Dual-zone climate control, auxiliary input jack, HD Radio, and a USB/iPod interface are standard, while leather upholstery and a premium sound system are optional.
Under the hood, the 2012 C30 boasts a 227-horsepower, 2.5-liter inline-five-cylinder engine that generates 236 pounds-feet of torque and is mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission (a five-speed automatic is optional). In terms of fuel economy and horsepower, the C30 coupe offers nice bang for your buck with 21 mpg in the city and 29-30 mpg on the highway.
In addition to its strong frontal structure, the 2012 Volvo C30 features a host of standard safety features that set it apart from the competition. Four-wheel-disc antilock brakes, an electronic stability system, traction control, active front head restraints, and six airbags all come standard. The Whiplash Protection System (WHIPS), which is integrated into the front seats, cradles the spine and neck in a controlled manner in the event of a collision. A blind spot warning system is optional.
