2011 Volvo C30 Overview
Volvo has always been synonymous with safety, quality, and luxury. Now, the 2011 Volvo C30 adds fun and sporty to that list combining Volvo practicality into a small, sporty hatchback package. The C30 receives a few slight enhancements for 2011, including an updated more aggressive front.
All available styles of the 2011 Volvo C30 come equipped with Volvo’s 2.5-liter, 227-horsepower, turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine with 236 pounds-feet of torque through a front wheel drive system. This is mated to a six-speed manual or an optional five-speed automatic transmission. The EPA rates the C30 at 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway, with a combined mpg of 24, giving it fuel economy similar to that of the Audi A3 and the Volkswagen GTI, although the C30 has superior power.
With 15.3 cubic feet of cargo room and 34.2” of rear legroom, the 2011 Volvo C30 is similar in size to the Volkswagen GTI, and has enough cargo space and comfortable seating to make the C30 a versatile carrier, while still maintaining a performance edge. The C30’s distinctive rear glass window hatch is still present, giving the car outstanding rear visibility and unique rear styling.
The 2011 Volvo C30 is available in two models – T5 and R-design. The T5 model comes with a long list of standard features, including A/C, power windows, keyless entry, front bucket seats, MP3/CD player, four wheel anti-lock disc brakes, a roof lip spoiler, and stability control. Optional features include a navigation system, a 10-speaker Dynaudio sound system, leather seats, power front seats, and a sunroof.
The R-design edition of the 2011 Volvo C30 retains the features of the T5, but adds in a sport-tuned suspension, an upgrade to 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels (from 17-inch wheels on the T5), a beefed up spoiler, front fog lights, and several interior and exterior style touches.
Rated as an IIHS safety top pick, the 2011 Volvo C30 boasts a long list of safety features, including Volvo’s Whiplash protection system, reinforced side impact protection, front and rear crumple zones, dynamic stability control, dual stage front airbags, side curtain airbags, and a collapsible steering column.
Combining a powerful, yet fuel efficient engine, hatchback practicality, and a touch of sportiness to go along with Volvo safety and luxury, the 2011 Volvo C30 is a standout in its class.
