New 2009 Volvo C30

Sporty meets safe and luxurious—just not at a luxurious price. The 2009 Volvo C30 takes everything that’s good about a Volvo and packs it into a stylish and practical hatchback.

Volvo’s hatchback version of the S40, the C30 made only a few changes to the 2009 model. Most significant are that the trim levels got switched around. The base model is the T5 and the high-end trim is the T5 R-Design. Both feature a 2.5-liter, 227-horsepower five-cylinder turbocharged engine. Mated to either a slick-shifting 6-speed gearbox or a 5-speed automatic Geartronic transmission with manumatic shifting, you'll enjoy rapid acceleration and excellent fuel economy. Speaking of fuel economy, the C30 gets 19 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway. 

The C30 emphasizes maximum visibility with its one-of-a-kind large glass rear hatch. The design seems to invite you to look through the rear window and appreciate the view between the separate rear seats leading to Volvo’s trademark “floating” center stack. There is plenty of room for four adult passengers, with adequate leg and headroom. The rear seats also drop down at the flick of a lever to form a tall, flat load space.   The C30’s unique design creates separation from the Volkswagen GTI and MINI Cooper.

We all know that Volvo is synonymous with safety and the C30 is no exception. Dynamic Stability and Traction Control creates sure footed handling in a variety of weather conditions, while dual-stage front and side-impact airbags with Inflatable Side Curtains keep both driver and passenger secure. Adding to the mix, the Side Impact Protection System and Whiplash Protection System take passive safety to a whole new level. In addition, the innovative Blind Spot Information System alerts you when a vehicle enters your blind spot. 

Stacked to the brim with amenities, the R-Design comes equipped with larger 18-inch alloy wheels, a tasteful yet aggressive body kit, dynamic chassis with firmer suspension setup, SIRIUS® Satellite Radio, and interactive Infotainment center. Both models come with the advanced radio data system (RDS) tuner, which offers up-to-date traffic information, an integrated MP3 compatible CD player and auxiliary input for your iPod.
