2008 Volkswagen Passat Overview
As the brand’s flagship sedan, the 2008 Volkswagen Passat offers abundant power, a wealth of standard amenities, and the availability of all-wheel drive. The four-door, five-passenger Passat features four revised trim levels for 2008 – Turbo, Komfort, Lux, and VR6. The first three trims share the same 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine with 200 horsepower which provides lively acceleration, mated to crisp 6-speed manual transmission (Turbo models only) or a 6-speed DSG® manumatic transmission with Tiptronic® for razor-sharp shifting. VR6 models sport a 3.2 liter VR6 engine, making a lofty 250 horsepower with the DSG® transmission standard. 4MOTION® all-wheel drive is available on VR6 models, providing sure-footed control and handling in a variety of weather and road conditions. Convenience features include a Dynaudio Premium Sound System with 10 speakers, 600 watts of power, and Digital Sound Processor technology for amazing sound clarity, while the iPod® adaptor in the glove box lets you enjoy digital tunes on the road. The standard 12-way power adjustable driver seat with 4-way power lumbar support will coddle you in the perfect driving position. Available Adaptive Cruise Control maintains speed and distance behind other vehicles with an advanced radar system. Optional park distance control uses sensors in the front and rear bumpers to assist in parallel parking maneuvers. Safety features include dual front airbags, front and rear side thorax airbags and head curtain airbags, and side curtain airbags in both rows for world-class passenger protection. Standard four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with Electronic Stabilization Program and Hydraulic Brake Assist increase stopping power and prevent wheel lockup during hard braking. Standard Anti-slip Regulation helps to deny wheel slippage at all speeds to maximize balance and equal traction. The available Adaptive Front Lighting System comes with Bi-Xenon™ headlamps, turning up to 15 degrees in the direction you’re headed while at freeway speeds and illuminating the road better than standard halogen lamps. With unmistakably solid build quality, the 2008 Volkswagen Passat offers taut, composed handling, advanced technology features, and a svelte body shape to stand out from the midsize sedan crowd. |
