Volkswagen Overview:
The Passat CC takes VW’s popular model, the Passat sedan, and gives it coupe-like styling. The Passat CC has both Sport and Luxury trims and features a 3.6-liter, 280-horsepower VR6 engine. The compact Jetta TDI sedan runs on diesel and boasts an estimated 38 MPG in the city and 44 MPG on the highway, with a range of more than 600 miles between fill-ups. The performance-oriented GLI sport sedan, based on the Jetta, features a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with additional horsepower, sharper handling and a lowered ride height. The ultimate pocket rocket, the GTI hatchback is a hot-rod version of the two-door Rabbit. It features the same turbo engine, transmissions, and suspension components as the GLI sedan. Sadly, the high-performance R32 hatchback was discontinued for 2009. The best selling compact Jetta sedan embodies VW’s sleek and unique styling in several trim levels, including a SportWagen version. The full-size Passat offers a turbocharged 4-cylinder or V-6 engine and is offered as both a sedan and wagon with either front- or all-wheel drive. The sexy Eos convertible has established its own niche as a compact, four-seat retractable-hardtop convertible with an integrated panoramic sunroof. Its four trim levels have been renamed and include interior additions and leather trim upgrades. The Eos drops its optional V-6 for 2009. After getting significant restyling last year, the capable Touareg 2 SUV remains virtually the same in 2009. Like its predecessor, this five-seat midsize SUV comes with standard all-wheel drive and a choice of V-6 or V-8 engines and offers amazing off-road capability on a variety of terrains. The turbodiesel V-10 engine has been discontinued. The adorable New Beetle may be the most unique car on the road today. The compact New Beetle gets decent mileage and is synonymous with youthful styling. The New Beetle has many options and and trim levels available for its hatchback and convertible models. The Rabbit compact hatchback is available in either a two- or four-door body style, and has 170-horsepower on tap. Both styles are available in only one trim level - the Rabbit S. |
