Toyota Yaris vs. Hyundai Elantra Touring Review

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs about the same to get the Hyundai Elantra Touring to the dealership as the Toyota. With respect to gas mileage, the Toyota beats the Hyundai. Producing an accurate fuel economy evaluation is so hard that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though the Yaris is the winner as far as fuel economy. In terms of MSRP, the Toyota Yaris costs tremendously less than the Elantra Touring.

Utility
Neither the Toyota Yaris nor the Hyundai Elantra Touring has a marked advantage when it comes to seating capacity.

Convenience
The Yaris's fuel tank will need to be replenished a tad more often than the unit in the Hyundai Elantra Touring.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Hyundai Elantra Touring offers a bit more head room than the Toyota Yaris, there frankly isn't much of a difference. The ampler interior dimensions of the Elantra Touring make it considerably more spacious for your passengers than the Toyota Yaris.

Dimensions
Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Hyundai Elantra Touring than the Yaris because of its bigger tank. The Yaris fits in smaller parking spaces than the Hyundai Elantra Touring. The Hyundai Elantra Touring's longer wheelbase will result in a smoother, more stable ride; however, the Toyota Yaris may give a nimbler feel in daily traffic.

Performance
Regarding horsepower, the Hyundai Elantra Touring packs quite a punch and will knock the Yaris down a few rungs. However, keep in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Handling
With its tighter turning circle, the Toyota Yaris is quite certainly sprier than the Hyundai Elantra Touring, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the flip side, keep in mind that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Toyota Yaris's engine is significantly smaller than the Hyundai Elantra Touring's. Keep in mind that smaller engines can be stressed more; however, smaller engines are often cheaper to fix. Torque equals pickup, and the Hyundai Elantra Touring will have picked up and gone by the time the Toyota finally gets moving. The Toyota Yaris could learn a lesson or two from the Hyundai Elantra Touring in terms of torque.

Warranty
The basic warranty that comes with the Toyota Yaris isn't quite as generous as the Elantra Touring's.
