Toyota Yaris vs. Honda Civic Review

Utility
Neither the Yaris nor the Honda Civic has a marked advantage as far as seating capacity.

Performance
As far as horsepower, the Honda Civic packs quite a wallop and will knock the Toyota Yaris down a few rungs. On the flip side, keep in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Dimensions
Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Honda Civic than the Toyota Yaris because of its larger tank. The Yaris fits in smaller parking spaces than the Honda Civic. The Honda Civic's longer wheelbase will result in a smoother, more stable ride; on the flip side, the Toyota Yaris may give a more agile feel in daily traffic.

Convenience
You won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Toyota Yaris than with the Honda Civic, as both offer comparable mileage ranges.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs approximately the same to get the Honda Civic to the dealership as the Toyota Yaris. In terms of fuel economy, the Toyota Yaris and the Honda don't differ much. Producing a precise gas mileage evaluation is so tough that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though both the Toyota Yaris and the Toyota Yaris perform about comparably in terms of fuel economy. With respect to MSRP, the Toyota Yaris costs tremendously less than the Civic.

Handling
With its tighter turning circle, the Toyota Yaris is most certainly more agile than the Honda Civic, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the other hand, bear in mind that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Toyota Yaris's engine is significantly smaller than the Honda Civic's. Bear in mind that a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder; on the flip side, smaller engines are often cheaper to fix. Torque equals pickup, and the Honda Civic will have picked up and gone by the time the Yaris finally gets moving. The Toyota Yaris could learn a lesson or two from the Honda Civic when it comes to torque.

Comfort
The Honda Civic is not particularly more spacious for your passengers than the Yaris.

Warranty
The Honda Civic and the Yaris have the same basic after-sale protection.
