Toyota Tacoma vs. Honda Ridgeline Review

Utility
The Honda will definitely prove more convenient than the Tacoma for those of you with frequent kid-cargo. There's no clear winner between the Honda and the Toyota Tacoma as far as transporting cargo. Towing is substantially more the Honda Ridgeline's forte than it is the Toyota Tacoma's.

Performance
When it comes to horsepower, the Honda Ridgeline packs quite a wallop and will knock the Toyota Tacoma down a few rungs. On the flip side, remember that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Dimensions
The Honda Ridgeline is substantially heavier than the Toyota Tacoma. The Toyota Tacoma's tank is almost the same size as the Ridgeline's, though the Honda Ridgeline's is slightly bigger. The Toyota Tacoma and the Honda compete for the same parking spaces. The Toyota Tacoma's shorter wheelbase may produce a less-settled highway ride but a nimbler feel in daily traffic than the Ridgeline.

Convenience
You'll likely take the Ridgeline for a fill-up about as often as the Toyota Tacoma.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs almost the same to get the Ridgeline to the dealership as the Toyota. The Honda Ridgeline doesn't pale in comparison to the Toyota Tacoma in terms of gas mileage. The Honda Ridgeline is substantially more expensive than the Toyota Tacoma as far as MSRP.

Handling
With its tighter turning radius, the Toyota Tacoma is quite certainly sprier than the Honda Ridgeline, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the other hand, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Honda Ridgeline has a more massive engine than the Toyota Tacoma. Note that smaller engines typically get better gas mileage, but a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder. The Toyota Tacoma could learn a lesson or two from the Ridgeline regarding torque. Torque equals pickup, and the Honda Ridgeline will have picked up and gone by the time the Toyota Tacoma finally gets moving.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Honda Ridgeline offers a bit more head room than the Toyota Tacoma, there really isn't much of a difference. The ampler interior dimensions of the Honda Ridgeline make it more spacious for your passengers than the Toyota Tacoma.

The Ridgeline and the Toyota Tacoma have the same basic warranty.
