Toyota Tacoma vs. GMC Canyon Review

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs about the same to get the GMC to the dealership as the Toyota Tacoma. In terms of fuel economy, the GMC Canyon is slightly better than the Toyota Tacoma, but not by much. With respect to MSRP, the GMC Canyon costs about as much as the Toyota Tacoma (though the Toyota Tacoma is a little cheaper).

Utility
The Canyon will quite certainly prove handier than the Toyota Tacoma for those of you with frequent kid-cargo. The Toyota Tacoma is a better choice than the GMC Canyon with respect to hauling capacity, especially if you frequently need to carry a lot of equipment or massive pets. Towing is significantly more the GMC Canyon's forte than it is the Toyota Tacoma's.

Convenience
You likely won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the GMC Canyon than with the Toyota Tacoma, as both offer comparable mileage ranges.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Toyota Tacoma offers a bit more head room than the GMC Canyon, there really isn't much of a difference. The Toyota Tacoma provides more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the GMC Canyon does.

Dimensions
The GMC Canyon's tank is almost the same size as the Toyota Tacoma's, though the Toyota Tacoma's is a little bigger. The Toyota Tacoma and the GMC Canyon compete for the same parking spaces.

Performance
As far as horsepower, the GMC Canyon packs quite a wallop and will knock the Tacoma down a few rungs. However, bear in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Handling
With their comparable turning circles, the Toyota Tacoma and the GMC likely handle about the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Toyota Tacoma's engine is a little smaller than the Canyon's, but not terribly so.

Warranty
The GMC and the Toyota Tacoma have the same basic warranty.
