2010 Toyota Tacoma Overview
Offering a spacious interior, powerful V-6 engine and superior off-road capability, the 2010 Toyota Tacoma is a force to be reckoned with in the midsize pickup truck segment. The 2010 Toyota Tacoma is available in base, PreRunner and X-Runner trim levels and Regular or Access (extended) Cabs, which come with a six-foot bed or Double Cab, which offers a five- or six-foot bed and can be had in four-wheel drive. Two powerful engine choices include a 159-horsepower, 2.7-liter four-cylinder mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission and a 236-hp, 4.0-liter V-6 is mated to either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic. An automatic limited-slip differential is standard. The 2010 Toyota Tacoma can achieve competitive fuel economy in its class, with EPA estimated ratings ranging between 14-20 mpg in the city and 18-26 on the highway, depending on engine and transmission. When properly equipped with the V-6 Towing Prep Package, the 2010 Toyota Tacoma can tow up to an impressive 6,500 pounds. Facing competition from Nissan Frontier, Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado and Dodge Dakota, the 2010 Toyota Tacoma is a feisty pickup that boasts plenty of off-road capability, especially when equipped with Toyota’s TRD Off-Road package. Appearance and performance-oriented components include progressive-rate front springs, Bilstein shocks, BFGoodrich Rugged Trail tires, 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels, a street-tuned suspension and low-profile tires. The X-Runner is equipped with the 4.0-liter V-6 engine, six-speed manual transmission, 18-inch wheels, Bridgestone Potenza tires and a lowered, specially tuned suspension. Inside, a rearview monitor system provides an enhanced view of potential objects located behind you. A premium seven-speaker JBL stereo system with six-CD changer, Bluetooth compatibility and XM Satellite Radio are available in the Double Cab, while all models feature a tilt/telescoping steering wheel and are MP3 capable. Power windows and locks are standard on Access and Double Cabs and a leather-wrapped steering wheel is standard on the X-Runner. Among the 2010 Toyota Tacoma’s suite of standard safety technologies include electronic stability control, driver and front-passenger active head restraints, side-impact and side curtain airbags and the Star Safety System, which includes antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist and traction control. The 2010 Toyota Tacoma midsize pickup offers plenty of V-6 power and is an excellent choice, whether you plan on towing, going off-road or you simply need a capable work truck.
