How the Toyota Sequoia stacks up against the competition - by Nigel Cooper, Topanga CA

Toyota Sequoia Review
2008 Toyota Sequoia
Price Range: $34,150 - $55,600

Handling
The Sequoia and the typical fullsize SUV have approximately similar tires. With their similar turning circles, the average fullsize SUV and the Toyota Sequoia quite certainly handle roughly the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Toyota Sequoia's engine is a bit smaller than the typical fullsize SUV's, but not terribly so. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the typical fullsize SUV isn't much more powerful than the Toyota Sequoia.

Utility
The Toyota Sequoia's more sizeable trunk will accommodate more sizeable items than the average fullsize SUV. Neither the Toyota Sequoia nor the average fullsize SUV has a marked advantage in terms of seating capacity. There's no clear winner between the typical fullsize SUV and the Toyota Sequoia regarding transporting cargo. The average fullsize SUV outpulls the Sequoia by a sizeable margin.

Convenience
You'll very likely take the Sequoia for a fill-up approximately as often as the typical fullsize SUV.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Toyota Sequoia offers a bit more head room than the average fullsize SUV, there frankly isn't much of a difference. The Sequoia is not particularly roomier for your passengers than the typical fullsize SUV.

Dimensions
The Toyota Sequoia is slightly heavier than the average fullsize SUV. The Toyota Sequoia's tank is about the same size as the average fullsize SUV's, though the typical fullsize SUV's is somewhat larger. The Toyota Sequoia rides lower than the typical fullsize SUV, which is a good thing for its center of gravity and ease of access. The Toyota Sequoia and the typical fullsize SUV compete for the same parking spaces.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. The Toyota Sequoia is substantially cheaper to get to the dealership than the typical fullsize SUV. Regarding gas mileage, the typical fullsize SUV and the Sequoia don't differ much. The Toyota Sequoia is significantly more expensive than the average fullsize SUV as far as MSRP.

Overview
Although the basic warranty that comes with the average fullsize SUV is slightly longer than the Toyota Sequoia's, the difference isn't too significant.
