The newly redesigned 2008 Toyota Sequoia is a full-size SUV that has grown substantially larger than last year’s model and features a choice of two powerful V8 engines that supply substantial towing capacities. Its main competition is the Nissan Armada, Chevrolet Tahoe, and Ford Expedition.
Available in three trim levels – the capable SR5, the luxurious Limited, and the top-of-the-line Platinum – the Sequoia offers an abundance of power. The 4.7 liter V8 engine offers 276 horsepower and ample torque mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission that shifts smoothly. The 5.7 liter V8 engine with 381 horsepower and a 6-speed automatic transmission provides more stout acceleration and towing capacity – up to 10,000 lbs. when properly equipped. All Sequoias are available in two-wheel drive or more capable four-wheel drive configurations. The Sequoia features a new four-wheel independent suspension that offers a supple, controlled ride.
Inside, an available power-reclining third row seats offers additional passenger comfort and flexibility with seating for up to 8 passengers. The optional Navigation System features a 7-inch screen with turn-by-turn directions, detailed maps, and an integrated backup camera that displays a view of what’s behind the vehicle. Climate controlled front seats and heated second-row seats offer comfort and support. An optional rear-seat DVD entertainment system features a 9-inch display, rear-seat audio controls, and two wireless headphones to entertain passengers on long rides. An optional 14-speaker JBL® audio system with 6-disc in-dash CD player and MP3 capability offers excellent sound quality.
Standard safety features include dual front airbags, front seat-mounted side impact airbags, and side curtain airbags for all three rows of seats to protect passengers in a collision. Standard 4-wheel Anti-lock Brakes incorporate Brake Assist and Electronic Brake-force Distribution to enhance braking power and minimize wheel lockup. The standard Electronic Stability Control system offers enhanced vehicle control during evasive maneuvers. The available Air Suspension system with load-leveling increases off-road capability and features an adjustable ride height.
Bigger, more powerful, and offering more capability than ever, the 2008 Toyota Sequoia is a premium full-size SUV that doesn’t compromise on any level.
