Toyota RAV4 vs. Honda CR-V Review

Utility
There's no clear winner between the RAV4 and the CR-V as far as hauling capacity. The Toyota RAV4 will quite certainly prove handier than the Honda CR-V for those of you with frequent child-cargo. Towing is substantially more the Toyota RAV4's forte than it is the CR-V's.

Performance
The Honda is likely to feel somewhat sluggish because of its high horsepower-to-weight ratio. In terms of horsepower, the Toyota RAV4 packs quite a wallop and will knock the Honda CR-V down a few rungs. However, remember that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums. With its super low horsepower-to-weight ratio, the Toyota RAV4 will knock you back into your seat when you hit the gas pedal.

Dimensions
The Honda is likely to feel slightly slow because of its high horsepower-to-weight ratio. The Honda CR-V's tank is approximately the same size as the Toyota's, though the Toyota RAV4's is somewhat more capacious. The Honda CR-V and the RAV4 compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
You doubtless won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Honda CR-V than with the Toyota RAV4, as both offer similar ranges.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs about the same to get the CR-V to the dealership as the Toyota RAV4. In terms of gas mileage, the Toyota RAV4 is somewhat better than the Honda CR-V, but not by much. When it comes to MSRP, the Honda CR-V doesn't cost much less than the Toyota RAV4.

Handling
The Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V have roughly similar tires. With their similar turning radiuses, the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4 likely handle approximately the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The CR-V's engine is substantially smaller than the Toyota's. Note that a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder; on the other hand, smaller engines typically get better gas mileage. Torque is the force that lets you accelerate quickly, and in this respect, the Toyota is markedly more powerful than the Honda CR-V. Torque equals pickup, and the Toyota RAV4 will have picked up and gone by the time the CR-V finally gets moving.

Comfort
Taller drivers will substantially enjoy the extra head room in the RAV4's front cabin compared to the Honda. While the rear of the Honda offers a bit more head- and leg-room than the RAV4, there frankly isn't much of a difference.

Overview
The CR-V and the Toyota RAV4 have the same basic after-sale protection.
