Toyota Prius vs. Mercury Milan Review

Performance
In terms of horsepower, the Mercury Milan packs quite a wallop and will knock the Toyota down a few rungs. On the flip side, keep in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Handling
With its tighter turning radius, the Toyota is quite certainly sprier than the Milan, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the other hand, bear in mind that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Mercury Milan's engine is considerably more massive than the Toyota Prius's. Bear in mind that larger engines may use more gas than smaller ones. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Mercury Milan is tremendously more powerful than the Toyota Prius. The Toyota Prius could learn a lesson or two from the Milan when it comes to pickup.

Utility
Neither the Toyota Prius nor the Mercury Milan has a marked advantage as far as seating capacity.

Convenience
You will have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Mercury Milan than with the Toyota Prius.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Mercury offers a bit more head room than the Toyota, there really isn't much of a difference. The Mercury Milan is not particularly roomier for your passengers than the Toyota Prius.

Dimensions
Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Mercury Milan than the Toyota Prius because of its bigger tank. The Prius and the Mercury Milan compete for the same parking spaces.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs about the same to get the Mercury Milan to the dealership as the Toyota Prius. In terms of fuel economy, the Toyota Prius has the Mercury Milan beat. The Milan uses a lot of gas compared to the Toyota Prius. In terms of MSRP, the Mercury Milan costs roughly as much as the Toyota Prius (though the Toyota Prius is a bit cheaper). The Prius will save you a bundle at the pump every year compared to the Milan.

The Mercury Milan and the Prius have the same basic warranty.
