Neither the Toyota Prius nor the Mazda MAZDA6 has a marked advantage in terms of seating capacity.

Performance
When it comes to horsepower, the MAZDA6 packs quite a punch and will knock the Toyota Prius down a few rungs. On the other hand, keep in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Dimensions
Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the MAZDA6 than the Toyota because of its bigger tank. The Prius and the Mazda MAZDA6 compete for the same parking spaces.

Cost
With respect to MSRP, the Mazda MAZDA6 costs roughly as much as the Toyota Prius (though the Toyota Prius is somewhat cheaper).

Handling
With their comparable turning circles, the Toyota Prius and the Mazda MAZDA6 likely handle approximately the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Toyota Prius's engine is considerably smaller than the Mazda MAZDA6's. Bear in mind that smaller engines can be stressed more; however, smaller engines are often cheaper to fix. Torque equals pickup, and the Mazda will have picked up and gone by the time the Prius finally gets moving. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Mazda MAZDA6 is tremendously more powerful than the Toyota Prius.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Mazda MAZDA6 offers a bit more head room than the Toyota Prius, there really isn't much of a difference. The Mazda MAZDA6 is not particularly roomier for your passengers than the Toyota Prius.

The MAZDA6 and the Toyota Prius have the same basic after-sale protection.
