Toyota Prius vs. Kia Rio Review

Handling
With their comparable turning circles, the Kia Rio and the Prius definitely handle roughly the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Kia Rio's engine is a little smaller than the Prius's, but not terribly so. Torque is the force that lets you accelerate quickly, and in this respect, the Kia Rio isn't much more powerful than the Prius.

Utility
The Kia Rio and the Toyota can accommodate the same number of passengers.

Convenience
You will most definitely have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Rio than with the Toyota Prius.

Comfort
Taller drivers will substantially enjoy the extra head room in the Kia Rio's front cabin compared to the Toyota Prius. The Toyota Prius is not particularly more spacious for your passengers than the Kia Rio.

Dimensions
The Toyota Prius is tremendously heavier than the Kia. The Kia Rio and the Toyota Prius compete for the same parking spaces. The Kia Rio's shorter wheelbase may produce a less-settled highway ride but a nimbler feel in daily traffic than the Toyota Prius.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs almost the same to get the Kia Rio to the dealership as the Prius. The Prius will save you money at the pump compared to the Kia. The Rio pales in comparison to the Toyota Prius as far as fuel economy. The Rio is tremendously less costly than the Toyota Prius as far as MSRP. The Kia Rio will cost you a lots_of_money in gas every year compared to the Prius. The Prius will save you a lots_of_money at the pump every year compared to the Kia.

Warranty
The basic after-sale protection that comes with the Toyota isn't quite as generous as the Rio's.
